Agreed- it’s a beautiful wood, but varies quite a bit. I have a putter that’s made out of it, but like my basses, it’s not the tool, it’s the fool using it that really mattersAm certain that master artisan Keith Roscoe knows exactly what to do with that gorgeous piece of Cocobolo. Cocobolo is one of my favorite top woods. It is my impression that it's scarce and expensive, and that many custom luthiers don't even offer it any more. That Roscoe Guitars offers this top wood on a Standard Plus is pretty outrageous. Another view from the aforementioned FB post:

It's been told that when stressed, whispering "Cocobolo" 3 times may be relaxing. .

Does anyone else find that when you run the pickup selector/balance knob just a touch off the center detent - either way - that it opens up the sound a bit? Less polite? Or is it my imagination?
Lookin' good as a righty, but that last one was actually built as a lefty : o
: )
I'm with you on this, Steve. My blend knob is centered, or positioned a tad to either side of center, and blend is my main tonal-change control. I rarely touch on-board bass EQ, just blend and volume. Being happy with the inherent tone of a Roscoe bass, I find little need for much else.Does anyone else find that when you run the pickup selector/balance knob just a touch off the center detent - either way - that it opens up the sound a bit? I am usually/generally happy with the sound of the bass as well. It's just for some of the cover tunes, I wish it was a little less polite, or more jazz sounding. I did get a Sadowsky Metro 5JJ recently. It's a nice bass, sounds great, but the neck is wide. 19mm spacing over 5 strings. Much different than 18.3mm spacing. My hand hurts a little after I play it.I'm with you on this, Steve. My blend knob is centered, or positioned a tad to either side of center, and blend is my main tonal-change control.
