Roscoe Club

Speaking of gigs…. I just lost mine and along with it all my extra Roscoe buying money lol. Ah well onto bigger and better things. At least I have a well supplied arsenal for whatever may come my way next.

Bummer! But, now would be a great time to take a family picture!:)
We’re all placing bets on how many basses you have!:roflmao:

Sounds like SteveC could use a sub for him every once in a while!
Maybe he can throw a bone your way!:D

Did you bring your 6 & 7 string basses too many times for the country sets?

lol no I brought my vocal opposition to the whiteboy rap we started doing more and more of along with some apparently unwelcomed facial expressions during said tunes lol. But they said I kicked ass on the jazz standard and Motown sets. LOL.

I can’t handle the rap crap either!:poop:

If you sleep on it, it will likely be gone when you wake up.

I am totally amazed that it wasn’t gone sooner. I recall my amazement when I first saw it. I resisted, thinking someone would buy it and I’d be relieved. I even played it and put it back. Today, it is out for delivery and I can hardly wait to play it again. I seriously don’t understand why he puts plastic covers on the back, but he does. Easily replaced.

I’ll open it tomorrow and put up a few photos. They won’t be as good as Keith’s or Donovan’s. :bassist::hyper::bassist:

Anyone tried these strings?

Purely visual/superficial (unless they sound great, too) move, I thought they might look nice on my Koa Century.

They are VERY expensive, but I have also purchased TI Flats so I'm not averse to paying for strings - if they are worth it?

Anyone ever tried super expensive German strings other than TI?

Beautiful bass! Never tried the strings, but have been tempted. I’ve seen good video reviews. Bass the world and/Charles Bethoud (sp) maybe. YouTube has them.

On another note… does Roscoe use a particular size/brand of strings or is that a question for Donovan/Roscoe?

I have some DR Hi Beams I'm going to try on this bass this weekend. I know I like nickel, but I want to see if SS (I used to use DR Hi Beams all the time) will give it a little more aggressive sound.

+1 ... I have HB's on my maple/ash LG5 ... excellent and aggressive results when you want it. Of course, I'm driving it thru a Saturn V/Wayne Jones 2x10 which helps.

KR's string set of choice (nickel rounds), straight from the Roscoe factory, available for your purchase in bulk (uh oh, I only have 1 set left). Add gauge .032 for high C if you play a 6

I use my Century 5 as my "contemporary jazz" bass, so the D'Addario nickels - similar to the stock strings - work well for that. I don't want it too aggressive for that, but I'd like to be able to use it for my cover band for songs that 1) need a B string and 2) don't sound right using my P with flats. As you know, I am currently using a Sadowsky 5JJ for that. Nice bass, but not a Roscoe.
