Roscoe Club

Fretless Roscoes are amazing. Excellent design, quality, playability, and sound. Service and parts are readily available, if needed. My Roscoe experience is superior to Pedulla in every way. Will never go back to the latter brand.
Well since Michael Pedulla retired and they are a closed shop, their service may be a little sub standard ;)

Closing in on a year for my order! Kind of surprised.

One year for a Roscoe new build? Yeah, Keiths wait time has increased a bit over the last year or so but typically he turns them out in 5-6 months now. Do you have some really special specs (scale length, pickups, preamp or string spacing ...) that is causing a bit longer wait?

Keep your chin up, @wellso74 . Time quotes are fragile these days for sure. A few words from the shop often offer sustaining hope. Phrases like, "Soon," or "Working on it now," or the coveted "Just 2 more weeks," are ones to listen for. Many here have been in your shoes, and the wait is worth it.

Years back Pedulla had really good service. I sent two basses to him for refinish and got them back in short order. In the last few years Michael was doing everything himself and his wife was running the office. That had to make things slow down.

I know that most of the builders of handmade basses are not able to build a bass to order in a short time. Muckleroy, Roscoe, Gould and Modulus come to mind. A friend just received a bass back from Keith that had been sent to the shop to have some fingerboard damage repaired. It took a long time for that repair to be completed, however, my friend is delighted with the result. That bass plays and looks fantastic now.

If I have a problem with a Roscoe bass I can call and probably Keith will pick up the phone. Who do you supposed answers the phone at Fender? Do they even answer the phone at Fender or do you get shuffled off into voice mail hell?

There is an old saying: "Good things come to those that wait". Right now I am waiting on a back ordered Mesa Subway 115 cabinet. Good equipment made in the USA is in high demand and short supply.

By the way, have I told you lately that I just adore my SKB 3006? The more I play this bass, the more I love everything about it. I bought it used and paid more for it than I have paid for any other electric bass. It is worth way more than I paid. I know I am only one of many who are grateful for Keith Roscoe and what he does for us.

Here is my Roscoe trio:

Roger says his preamps support 18 V and you have more headroom, the difference is noticeable. I own a will Lee five string and the output is fine but my Roscoe has a lot more headroom and output

Hmmm...doesn't seem to be what he's said at all, but hey, it's your bass! :D

Although 18 volts will not hurt the pre, there is nothing to be gained at 18 volts. Unlike an op-amp circuit, you will not gain any headroom.

Being perfectly honest, I'd love to be able to hear a difference between 9VDC and 18VDC but try as I may I never have. And I've installed dozens of both configurations (9 and 18VDC) in basses (as a repairman at local music stores). Maybe you can see it on an O-scope but my old rock and roll worn ears just can't hear it.;)

I don't like turning the volume past 75% and I like the higher output of the 18v and at the end of the day is about how the bass responds to my style of playing. My ears hear a difference, hey my bass my choice !!

It may be that your amp responds in a way you like to the higher output of the bass. It is always best to play the equipment that pleases you. The more you like the sound of your equipment, the better you will be inspired to play.

he quoted me 5 months

Wells have you contacted Keith directly for an update? I message him regularly through FB messenger. He always responds very timely. I can feel your pain man. I’m three months into my second build and I’m not anticipating a 2022 delivery. I learned my lesson last time and am not thinking on it much. But I’ve been too busy buying used Roscoes lol.
