Holy Crap! Now this is a neck and tone for which I can fall in love. The Aguilar single coils give a great “jazz” tone. Yeah, they hum when soloed, but I doubt I’ll ever solo them. The original Aguilar 1 preamp is included, but I like the standard Bart 3 band that it has now.

Waiting to get some strings and Straploks and I’ll be good to go. Maybe a little set up and intonation check but it feels pretty decent out of the box.

And it’s so light. It’s like it’s not even there. Wow. Impressed.

As long as it’s not the “best bass you’ve ever played”

LG 5 slanted barts, 8.2 lbs of flamethrower goodness. Why not the Maple? I used to not care for them either but then I played one and love the Ash/Maple combo with Bartolini. It really does sound great.

Nice bass!

it’s just a personal preference. I had a wonderful SKB (that Scott has now)and a few maple Sadowsky’s- all great bases. I just prefer a non- maple board.

Keith really picked out some nice woods for it. I really dig the striping of the Pau Ferro, and the body looks amazing when you blow the pic up. I'm very curious on what it will end up weighing, and I am really looking forward to getting it in my hands

Every Roscoe I ever owned came with straplocks installed. Does yours not have them?

Mine have only come with the instrument side installed, I’ve had to provide the strap side.

Same here, except for one. . a new-to-me SKB owned for a week, and played while sitting the entire time. Just as I was taking it to a rehearsal, I thought to check which strap to use, literally just before heading out the door. "What? No straplocks!" Grabbed a different bass and ran, saving the SKB debut for another day.

Yeah, it never occurred to me there wouldn’t be straplocks. I ordered strings right away but figured I’d just hook up and go. I don’t have any gigs for a couple weeks so I’ll have it all restrung, tweaked and Straplocked by then.

The output of this bass seems low compared to my others. Any ideas? I haven’t opened it up to see if there’s the output trim screw on the preamp. It isn’t open via the cavity cover like on my century. I was going to wait with any work until I get all my parts.

I was able to spend some quality time with the Green fretless LG3005 this week and she’s a sweetheart for sure. I’m playing in a Brazilian Jazz Trio with two other Army Band vets and was thinking of using my upright or maybe my Azola but I brought this beauty and it just sounds perfect. Besides it matches my new Tulane shirt and new gig bags. I got the greens.

Strings came today so tomorrow I can clean, restring, set up and intonate. Maybe swap the batteries just for a clean slate, and see if there’s a level dial in the electronics cavity.

If it’s a Bart pre, it should have a trim pot. My previous SKB had the Aguilar OBP-3 from the shop, and didn’t have the hole in the cavity that my Century with the Bart pre does, fyi.

Hey… love the Messina Bag. I just bought my first upright bag from them and it’s wonderful. I’ve ordered one for my Shen SB-90 in Texas A&M colors. I’ve been thinking about getting one for electric. How do you like the one for the electric?

On a sports note, I was exposed to Tulane back in the Metro Conference days. We had a good rivalry for a few years until Louisville left. I always thought instead of The Green Wave, they should have been the highway. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I’m from New Orleans and I’m an LSU fan but always supported all the home teams. Tulane is a great school and has a fantastic medical program too.

A few years back, when I was still living in Chicago, I got hired by a friend of a friend to play a couple of gigs with a group of touring Brazilian Musicians playing Bossa nova - these were seriously good players and I was definitely not the right guy for the gig, but I learned a lot in a short time. One of the things that surprised me was that they wanted electric bass, not upright, for traditional Bossa. They told me that they prefer electric because the notes speak more quickly. So I of course used my SKB on the gigs! Would love to hear your trio!
