Surprising for me. I’m hoping a 34” scale 4 string won’t have that “reach” feeling that I had with 35” SKB’s I tried in the past - hence my Century favoritism. I must admit, I do like the compact body. The LG is what I think of when I think classic Roscoe. Especially the color of this body, the 3 piece neck, the quilt maple top…I love it!
And the best part is that it's an LG! Not a Century!
Hey, @SteveC . New bass, new shorter scale, new lower string count, gorgeous looking and sounding instrument. Hoping you find the new LG bass to be very playable and comfortable on a strap. Otherwise, sweep those old concerns out the door. .
I love the look of the LG body with the jazz p/u's. Of course it's always been one of my favorite body styles.
Looking forward to your comments after gigging with it a few times.
Thanks. Me too. I’m loving it so far. I have been playing my Classic P a lot lately as well. Lilo g the 4’s again these days. I only use the 5 when I need the B string range - or when there isn’t time for a bass change.

Scott. It’s been available since the Change to Hipshot (saddles, tuners and Dunlop receivers only). That was just before 2000. Not many requested it though so you don’t see that many.
Roscoe 6's with Bubinga tops and Wenge fingerboards are no good. Send it to me 'cause I'm no good either.
My SKB 3007 has gold hardware; let me look through my documents and see if the date is shown anywhere (I am not the original owner.)
Although I expect a call to Keith with the serial number may be the short path to build date...

So when I was doing a little set up work, I noticed my bridge was a little grungy. Screws were a little tough to turn but I was able to get it set. I didn’t do anything to lubricate it at all, figured once it’s set I’ll probably never really make any adjustments again so maybe I just leave it.
Or do I try to clean it? Take it off and soak it in something? Or do I order a new one? It’s a HipShot Type A right?

A safe and easy possibility is to remove, clean, lubricate, and reinstall the parts. After everything is clean and shiny, then decide if a new Hipshot A is warranted or desired. If the latter, do you want aluminum or brass? Roscoe proprietary radius stagger, or standard Hipshot non stagger?
I’ve never deep cleaned a bridge. I figure that means disassembling the bridge, removing all the set screws, etc, and soaking them in something? Avoiding water as that would promote rust? Can I get a “Roscoe” bridge? I guess I need to dig a little more. I figured a basic HipShot Tupe A was what I would get. Direct replacement, holes match, etc.

That’ll work Steve. I’m sure that Keith would sell you one. If the saddles are not bottomed out on yours (and the action is as low as you like it) I’d go that route. If you’d like lower action and the saddles are bottomed out I’d get the standard Hipshot. Keith’s bridges are aluminum with steel saddles. The standard is available all aluminum or all brass.
My action is pretty good. I think my E string is bottomed out. The others are close. I don’t need super low action, but my 5 and P are a little lower than the LG. So if I wanted the option to get a little lower just go with the one linked? Aluminum keeps the weight down, brass is better for sustain? I have no issues with what I assume is aluminum on my Century 5 HipShot B bridge.
