Every year I have to relearn The Christmas Song. LOL. I guess it is all those II, V's. Funny, I always remember All The Things You Are.

I think that Bubinga top is one that Armybass had and I really wanted it. I have no need for another fretless since I have my Century 6 but you guys understand that "want" and "need" are two different things. That is a very pretty bass and I would have probably bought it but Scott weighed it and it was on the heavy side. My SKB 6 is also heavy but the tone is to die for. That figured Mahogany body is probably where the weight came from but it is so beautiful and the bass sounds so wonderful that I ignore the weight.

Sorry Chuck I was wrong. I was using my new scale incorrectly and the bass was not the weight I told you. I discovered it when i got a ridiculous weight when weighing my AVRI P Bass. But it all worked out in the end. :)

Thats the best sounding and playing Fretless I’ve ever had. Including the three i have now. The bass has the clarity of a laser beam. And is like a Cadillac taking up both lanes. lol

Well, Scott, it is just as well that you gave me the wrong weight. I probably would have bought it and I really don't need it. My Century 6 FL is "the one" for me. It is a true Pedulla Buzz killer. Nothing wrong with the Pedulla basses but my Roscoe just kills in every respect.

This talk about Roscoe fretless basses prompted me to get my Century out of the case and play it for a while. I remembered it as being the best fretless I have ever played and it certainly is that. It plays so easily and each note is so even and pure. It is simply a masterpiece of bass guitar building.

I will play it on a show I have coming up later this month. I will probably take my SKB fretted 6 too. Why not?

I really wanted a Pentabuzz. I drooled over the one my bass teacher had. I thought they were the pinnacle of fretless bass.

Then I walked into Alpha Music and saw my fretless LG5 hanging on the wall. 30 minutes later that thing was on layaway- my own first "2 more weeks" as I waited for the next payday.

I brought that bass to my next lesson, and for the next 6 months my teacher kept offering a trade, his Pedulla for my Roscoe. At the time, the Roscoe cost less than the Pedulla. I considered it a few times, but could never do it. The Roscoe is just the better bass.

You're right Chuck, and a few others around here agree, Keith's fretless basses are really the best.

There is no better fretless. Even though I rarely used it, I sometimes wish I still had one of mine. I think his fretless basses are maybe even better than his fretted. My Century Standard Plus 5 fretless bass was probably the best bass I ever owned. If I could sell my LG3000 (another amazing bass) and had a chance to buy my fretless back, I’d strongly consider it.

I recently reduced my bass collection from over 20 down to 6 keepers. I will begin to take them in rotation to my electric bass gigs but they are few except for my church gig. My Century 6 FL has not been out of the house in about 2 years. That is going to change. I have it in my practice room and have been playing it. It is such a wonderful bass.

The LG/SKB/Century basses get much love here and for good reason, but the Classics have a lot going for them too. I know there are some Roscoe Classic owners out there, so let’s see ‘em!

Selfishly, I have a hankering for a Pino-ish vibe PBass and am having an internal debate between a Roscoe Classic and a Fender Mod Shop for this.

Not gonna happen. It’s my “Pino” bass complete with TI Flats. It’s a great bass. I never liked a P bass until this one - except Dave’s pawn shop Fender. It was a gift from my wife so…it stays.

You don’t see many Classic P basses. P/J or J/J yeah. I don’t know how many they’ve made. I know this is an early one. It has HipShot Ultralite tuners, a Honey Badger pickup, and my favorite - a side Jack. The quick change bridge is nice for string changes as well. It’s a fantastic bass. My wife got a nice deal from Greg at Rocket Music.

That is a beautiful bass indeed, Steve - I love seeing pics of it. The Honey Badgers were sweet pickups - too bad they went out of business. I notice that the standard P4 is listed as an option on the Roscoe site, though I don’t know how many they’re building these days. The site still has 2018 prices listed, lol. Wonder what an order for a standard 4 would cost now?

The order I placed in October for a SKB5 was based off the price lists online, but I didn’t get an extra fancy top wood, just flamed maple. In talking with Keith my understanding is the biggest price increases he has seen are in the top woods. New purchases of those have gone up exponentially, or are just no longer available. Labor costs are also going up everywhere so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is an overall price increase coming.
