Roscoe Club

My band just hosted a listening party for the release of our latest record. Small gathering, maybe 50-60 people in attendance. We played a few songs and I figured that no one would want to play my 6-string unlined Roscoe fretless, but a couple of bass players did so during a late-night jam -- and they both loved it!

I know no one is looking at me - unless I'm standing next to the singer or guitar player. The last gig was the last straw for cable tripping. Also had to pony up for some lighting upgrades for the band, another $300. So, all things considered, I’ll get more bang for my buck with wireless and lights. Fretless, while awesome, is not something that will get used on a regular basis. That’s why I sold both of them in the first place I suppose.

I totally get it Steve. I was just messing with you. I’ve certainly sold my share of Roscoe fretless basses (and rationalized it every time).
Now if you sale your Roscoe Classic P to finance a spandex stage outfit that’s when the Roscoe police come and cart you off to the funny farm!:D

On the plus side, you probably won’t waffle and sell those in a year ;)

You inspired me to put my wireless back on my board for a possible band tryout tonight, and I’m glad I did. Even for just moving around the room a little, to shake hands and look at sheet music, it’s SO much easier…
Yeah, the truss for sure won't get flipped. I'm guessing my experience will be the same as you with wireless. I'm glad I was able to inspire some good for a change. :D

Haha. I know. And the Classic P is a forever bass as it was a gift from my wife - and it's a fantastic bass.
No spandex here, I promise. No one wants to see that. I leave the tight pants to our lead singer. She has a much better figure for it than I do.

Wow. Fretless unlined 6 is a lot to handle. Brave souls.

You don’t see Roscoes configured with a single MM pickup very often. Really cool looking top too!
GC seems to be getting more used Roscoes these days.

I know the guy who used to own that. I'm surprised it's there, he loved that thing. But he lost everything in an apartment fire, so I'm sure that's why.

That one has been sitting there for a long time
They maybe ready to take a "reasonable" offer. It's a beautiful bass. Very unique. You see maple and Koa and stuff all the time. This is different. As is the pickup. Wish I could remember what wood that is.

Edit: Found this at Bass Club Chicago:

Pale Moon Ebony Top w. Matching Headstock
Alder Body
Gloss Finish
Aguilar OBP 3 Preamp
Aguilar MM Pickup AG-5M
Bolivian Rosewood Fingerboard
Graphite Nut

I did about 750 miles of driving Mon-Wed of this week for work, but was able to weave in another trip to the shop to pick up my bass! Very happy to have it in hand now. Spent about an hour there while he finished the setup. They are working 7 days a week right now trying to get caught up. Here are the specs:
SKB-3005 Standard Plus
Exhibition Flame Maple over Swamp Ash body
Gloss finish - Green/Purple burst (the purple is dark)
BEM fingerboard, Maple/Maple/Maple neck
Roscoe Bartolini pickups and Preamp

Only had a little time to fiddle with it last night after getting home (it was late), but it plays and sounds great!
