Roscoe Club

The last time I went to Columbia I was kidnapped. My captives were asking for 1 million in ransom until they found out I was a bass player. They ended up offering a priest $100 to take me but after complaining, they gave the priest his requested $500. :D
Wowwwww... Your story is crazy man!!! I live in Colombia per 14 years and never was close to be in danger thanks to God.... Inclusive I hunt in some areas without a single problem... Obviusly I know where to go and where not to go... Nice that you was safe with this bad situation... Thanks to God and your profesion:bassist:

Yeah CUP seems to have put a real cramp in the Roscoe thread. Kinda counter productive to TB. I am a supporting member and I come here to discuss the basses I dig but the CUP jazz seems to have curbed our enthusiasm here (or at least on my perception) therefore I spend less time here and have fewer reasons to remain a contributing member. Just my $.02. Guess we can all just chat freely on FB. Hope I don't get banned for saying that. :)

Like I've told Gard (and I think, the whole thread...) I'm going to need a way better reason to start up with Facebook...
(I have been checking the public Facebook page - I just can't 'participate.')
Roscoe could promote their brand all they like in a sponsored forum, but there seems little incentive for that. They had one.
But as Roscoe does not sell direct and a sponsored forum is evidently pricey, it doesn't make financial sense.
There is exactly one manufacturer with a sponsored forum right now.
Rocket has a forum, and I know that for a variety of reasons, geographic proximity being but one, they've teamed on a few events.
But Rocket is not exclusive with Roscoe nor vice versa, so there's only so much we can expect there.

My inveterate tinkerer nature has me wondering if I might want to try a different preamp - I hear good things about Demeter and Popes, especially.
And yet I love the sound so much exactly the way it is...

I have the Demeter in my fretless 6 SKB...
Mine is a fretless 6 SKB as well; I've seen the pictures - the fingerboards are pretty different but the bodies are quite similar.
Been a while since I've read the comparisons - last time I checked I had convinced myself the Aguilar wasn't going to take me where I want to go.
But I'm in no hurry to change anything...
This is one reason I'm looking forward to a GTG - the chance to hear a bunch of stuff all at once through the same amp setup in the same room...

Hey guys, yeah, you kinda see the issue...I can't promote anything here without tripping all over the CUP so I tend to just "lurk" and answer questions now, because I don't like getting a visit from the B&Hammer fairy. ;)

I try to do my best to be helpful and "color inside the lines", but that tends to make me a bit conservative now. GTG's are definitely something I cannot promote here, so you'll have to check out FB for any info on the "if & when" there, although I'm sure that news will trickle out here somehow, once that does happen.

If you ever have a question, of ANY kind, just shoot me a PM and I'll get right to it, I check them about once an hour throughout my work day, and at least 2-3 times a day on weekends and holidays (unless I'm on VACATION, then maybe once a day ;)...if I can sneak online without getting busted by SWMBO...:ninja: ). Sadly, FB is the only cost-effective method of maintaining a social media presence for us right now, so that's where I "live" these days.

Are we done discussing all the joy that is Roscoe Basses?

Nope. Here is a cell phone photo of my new Koa Roscoe I just received. She looks at home in her natural habitat, don't she? First gig last night.

Gard, are there any plans for a Roscoe GTG this year?

Seems we have to find another way to discuss bass players liking basses and getting together and liking basses together. SMDH

Yeah but....
Gard, just an FYI---you are free to answer any questions that are asked here. As long as you are responding to someone's question, you are well within the rules of the CUP. So please don't hide too much!
