Hey look! Roscoe basses! I love em!

I can't decide which of the two burl 5'er I like more... but it would help me decide if the basses were in focus and the couch was not! :bassist:

For the record, I am here, all day, every day, lurking and ready to pounce and answer questions (see below! :D ).

I'm just not going to be as actively STARTING conversations, because well...CUP...

Just a curiosity question...on a Century Standard 5 with Bart soapbars, are the coils wired in series or parallel?

...man, I don't like the new format here, too confusing after so long in the old one...even quoting a post is a PITA now! :p

Anyhow, they're series wired. :)

I don't profess to really know much about all this - because I don't.

But as a forever non-Facebook guy, I find this whole thing VERY disappointing.

I guess I just have to live with the fact that one of my favorite threads - and one of the liveliest threads on TB - is now just a shadow of its former self.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes.

Turn and face the strange.

Different pickups seem to have their sweet spot for optimum tone and placement effects how focused, wide, round, or punchy the sound is. I'd like to see the recommend placement of P+J, MM+J, dual soapbar, and jazz pickups on a Century 5 or SKB 3005.

My inveterate tinkerer nature has me wondering if I might want to try a different preamp - I hear good things about Demeter and Popes, especially.
And yet I love the sound so much exactly the way it is...

I have a Roscoe Demeter and since you have been pretty active on the Roscoe Club forum I will do this for you. PayPal me $10 to cover shipping and PP fees, I will send you the Demeter to try for two weeks, if you like it PayPal me $150 and if not, you can send it back to me.

That is a very generous offer, and one I may take you up on - but right now is not a good time...
I'll have to get back to you on that.
I don't expect you to hang onto it forever in case I might respond, so if you're of a mind to do something else with it in the meanwhile, go for it.

I haven't chimed in here in a while .......

Demeter's totally kill in a Roscoe. Totally!

And while I'm here, I'll post a recent pic of me and my Roscoe's.

I'm hoping I'll be able to take a pic like this sometime this fall with a new CS+ fretless myrtle in one hand and my good old CS+ fretted Koa on the other.

If I have "extra" money in the summer account (enough for 1/2 the cost of a new bass) I'm putting in an order in September.
