Merry Christmas Roscoeheads!

They released our Christmas presentation Christmas Eve so I thought that I’d share it.
I play in the pit the entire presentation except for one number (which is the only tune that you can see the Roscoe). It starts at 38:10.
Have a blessed one!

Wow, this is excellent in every way! Thanks for posting this, Joe.

Thx Fritz! Merry Christmas to you too!
Those were two really nice Roscoe's! I've certainly let way too many nice ones get away. Of course it's been a fun journey!:)

And I did end up with a nice one ......

And a few nice ones of other denominations ...... ;)

I have my 3 beautiful Roscoe’s that really cover all my needs.

Classic P with flats.
Century 5 fretted - with flats for now. Century 5 fretless with rounds for mwah.

I have only tried a Sadowsky since going to Roscoe. It was a nice bass of course, but I traded it for an LG3000 with jazz pickups. Not sure why I got ride of it, but I do find myself maybe wanting a good jazz bass. I played a nice Fender Ultra and a nice 75th anniversary, but I’m not sure. I just really like the look, feel and sound of my Roscoe’s. :bassist:

"Wow, can’t believe how great this Roscoe SKB6 plays. We've been doing a lot of short scale basses for a while. This one is 33” and might have my vote for the best short scale 5&6 string scale. The string tension is very relaxed but the strings are not floppy. The low B holds up well.

The Hipshot headless bridge is so solid and holds tune dead on. Okay, trimmed out with Aguilar Super Double pickups, 3 way EQ with passive tone, and nice light weight (8lbs). Good stuff, makes you want to play bass all night!" - Keith B. Roscoe

Question for everyone, what neck relief height works best for you with your Roscoe?
I recently picked up a 20 year old LG3005.
I know it’s personal preference, just seeing what you set yours at for the lowest action?
I usually set mine for feel with minimal clearance checked at the 7th fret.

I set mine as close to straight as I can. I fret the string at the 1st fret (with my left hand or capo), fret the same string at the 24th fret with the other hand and check the relief (with the bass in a playing position). Some of my basses require (play better) with a bit more relief (but never more than .015-.02)

Ok guys, what’s wrong with me. I played a used one of these at the local shop today.

Squier Classic Vibe '50s Precision Bass - White Blonde

I was shocked. It was light. No fret sprout. Straight neck. Great sound. Growly and full. I may have to give it another shot on Monday and see if I like it a 2nd time. The 75th anniversary Fender jazz next to it didn’t do much for me. A bass 5 times the cost of the Squier.

All I play are $2K+ Roscoes. I can’t imagine playing a Squier - my ego I know - but it was a really nice bass.

Shocking, isn’t it?

I bought a used P/J Squier used off Guitar Centers site. The bass was $169 and was in perfect new condition. However, the electronics didn’t work right. It sounded lousy. I bought a set of EMG Geezer Butler pickups and was blown away by how great it sounds and plays. Since then I bought a Classic vibe 60’s Jazz and a Classic vibe 70’s Jazz 5 string. They both sound and play great and no upgrades are needed although I will install CTS pots, a Sprague Orange drop cap and a Switchcraft jack.

I recently went to a jam session in a dive bar and played the P/J Precision. I enjoyed the sound and some other bassists complimented me on the great tone.

I am not about to give up my premium basses but it is remarkable that perfectly good basses are available at low prices and it is fun to play them.

So this is the preamp I had replaced because I thought it was faulty. Turns out it PROBABLY wasn’t as the issue seems to have been with my set up at home.

So…as I have had a new Bartolini installed, I thought I’d see if anyone wanted this one. It’s from 2012, has the 2 blocks and does not have the active/passive option. It does have the push/pull for mids.

Not sure what to ask. Maybe $150 shipped in the Bart box.
