I remember playing that bass, an incredible neck profile and the easiest playing 6 string.
Bummer. I have tickets to UF vs LSU. I won't be able to make it.
When you play a Roscoe, it's always a light-bulb moment!

That is beautiful ! Description says it's lined but I don't see any lines... (I prefer unlined myself, but it's just preference)I am going to try this out next week: Invalid Link Removed
Roscoe is consistently in the top ranks of fretless; I love mine - it's all I play. I think you will like the Diamondwood. I've been using FlexSteels on mine for a year and there is nary a mark - and I bought it used from a player who played it a -lot-. I'm not sure I completely buy into the tonewood concept but if I did, the Diamondwood may tend to bright rather than dark. I run all my tone controls in the middle unless I'm trying for 'upright mode.' You can dial treble back if you need to but it's hard to dial it up if it's just not there. I like a mid-forward sound and it all works for me (mine has a cedar body as well).Am I thinking along the right lines for more melodic, jazz tinged playing ... Diamondwood is new to me. And I suppose my real question is Century or SKB?
That all sounds great. For size I find Precision-style bodies suit me fine. At the moment Bass Direct has both body sizes in so I can compare them. I am using an NS Design upright for some of my work so I am really looking for that singing, fretless sound as a contrast; from what you say I am thinking along the right lines. The few minutes I spent trying a Roscoe after buying the Tanglewood/Overwater convinced me that if I ever spent serious money then the Roscoe would be the first consideration. The Rob Allen basses look really good too but perhaps not quite what I am looking for.
Well I officially have the Roscoe bug! Just ordered this beauty from Rocket Music to keep my fretless company!View attachment 477384
Congrats. I like when people buy basses I'm interested in...saves my bank account and keeps my wife happy.
Greg is a great guy and has nice basses in stock. I suppose it helps when you're a hop, skip and jump away from Roscoe world headquarters. ;-)
