Roscoe Club

Guys, Wanted to put the word out - looks like I'm going to be back in the "2 Roscoe Family". I've had a Roscoe fretless for 12 years, but looks like a companion is on the way.:bassist:

BUT HEY :hyper: - I'm looking for a set of Nordstrand Dual Coils that would fit in the Roscoe 5 slot. Also looking for an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. If you have either of these, PM me!!:hyper::hyper:

Thanks

While I was interested in your fretless, I'm glad you are able to keep them. I know you really like them and they each were spec'ed by you which makes them even more special.

I have thought about "downgrading" myself - and I just have a Plus - for various reasons but after playing it a few hours this weekend at a church retreat, I think I'm sold on keeping this bass regardless of other "life" situations. I picked out the wood and knowing this bass was made for me is a cool thing.

I don't know if I'll ever have a 2nd Roscoe (probably a fretless) but I'm pretty sure that this bass can cover any gig I'd ever take/have so I'm gonna try to take everyone's advice and just enjoy playing the nicest bass I have owned.

Yeah, I very glad things worked out as they did. I spent a lot of hard earned money on these basses, visited the shop where they were made and met the people who make them, got to hang out with Jimmy Haslip and some other very cool people because of them, and each one fits me perfectly.

There's a Roscoe trying to run away from my family, someone who knows how to care for them should adopt it. ;-)

Yeah, I have tried every thing I know to bring it back home, I even tried offering one of SteveC's kidneys or OrganBay but had no takers. Maybe it will not sell or come back up for sale when I have the funds. :)

Enjoying both my new Roscoe basses. The fretless is amazing, unplugged it just sings! Plugged in, oh boy! Still learning the Bartolini setup, so far I likey!

The fretted I got a few days ago is a whole other animal. It sports the Aguilar OPB-1 preamp and Aguilar pickups. The controls are very much like Sadowsky basses, boast only with the passive tone control. Used it tonight and the sound man said that was the best sounding bass he had heard in a long time. He could hear every note (which could be a bad thing!), the highs were crisp and clear and the low end full and tight sounding. And I love the weight of both of them! I think my Warwick weighs more then both of them put together!

Want that trans White so bad! Does it still give that Roscoe punch with the P/J setup, or is it more classic sounding?

More of a classic sound, much different then the Bart setup. I am still in the "learning" process with that bass, but I love that you can hear every note with the same clarity.

I'd describe it as a "Roscoe take on a classic Fender tone". Has the grunt of the P, the grind of the J, but still sounds like a ROSCOE. It also PLAYS like a Roscoe, which is a major bonus. :bassist:

Well I modded....or should say upgraded the new Trans White bass already! It looked good with the shinny stock black Gotoh machine heads. But now it looks even better with some flat black (like the bridge) Hipshot UtraLite machine heads.

The fretless has the UltraLite machines and I really like them....not only the look, but how they function and of course the weight!
