$12.95. Inflation. It's better. I put new strings on it. There's still some relief but I'm going to let it settle overnight.

I will say it plays evenly up and down the fret board, string to string. Much better in that regard than the cheap ibby. I didn't think I'd notice the 18-19 spacing difference but I do. Very tight sounding bass. Looking forward to playing it.

:smug: Sounds like my cue!

Typically .18-.20 on the B string (bottom of the string to top of the 24th fret). (.06 on the G string). I typically follow the radi of the fingerboard with the rest of the strings

Sometimes you can go down a bit more but it really depends on your touch. It sounds like you also might have to install a thin shim (depending on how things change after you tighten the truss rod).

What a difference a truss rod adjustment makes. It appears I jumped the gun a bit but after anxiously awaiting the arrival all day for my first "nice" bass I was a little disappointed. And then none of my allen wenches fit...:(

Thanks, Gard and Joe. I'm not so much locked into measurements but "high" and "low" mean different things to different people. I don't think a shim will be necessary but I probably will have to do something about the chrome.:) Could someone tell me if the hipshot tuners are 3/8 or 1/2? Or 25/64? Appear to be hb6 and B bridge? I can hear her crying for black hardware.

Beauty! I can see black hardware on there as well. I love black tuners on a maple headstock :)

that's really nice.almost hit that, but, I'm a single coil guy. super fine bass; enjoy that!
and black hardware would be great.

They're not really an option on the 5 strings due to spacing and the fact that Aguilar isn't set up to do custom pickups. I would love to order a Roscoe 4 with Aguilar Super Singles and OBP-1.

I'm feeling a little guilty for the previous whining. From the feel of the truss rod adjustment I think the nut was completely loosened. The neck now has just a slight bit of relief, the action is low and every note, every fret, every string sounds even, tight and in tune. Simultaneously trying new strings, D'Addario EXL220-5 XL. I've put a lot of time on it this weekend including the church service this morning. Just a joy to play.

You would like your new strings to sound more [ fill in blank ] than the OEM Nickels...
I'm using D'Addario FlexSteels on my fretless which has some of the similar woods. I find them to be extremely mid-forward and versatile. They seem to be a love/hate choice with no one who likes them 'a little.' I've had mine on a year and am about to put on a fresh set whether they need it or not. I don't think they do but I'll do some A/B tracks and we will find out...
