Just peeked at the NS-2, beautiful One thing I will tell you, just so you're aware of it - that will be one HEAVY beast! :eek:

Cocobolo is VERY dense, oily wood, and will add significant weight to an instrument, even if it's just a 1/2"-3/8" top like we would use. I am guessing that with that combo of cocobolo and maple neck through, that is a good 10 lbs or more worth of bass. Beautiful bass, though. :)

That Roscoe is a beauty queen! After switching to a 5, I don't think about going back. There was a time of getting acclimated when I was losing which string I was on and your technique needs to tighten up on deadening un-played strings, but it's something that comes to you with time. And, you won't have to worry about that deadliest of guitar tools again - the capo!! When they want to change keys you have plenty of room to move around the neck.

Roscoes are all easy to look at and the build quality is top notch, but to me the appeal is the way they feel. I've got other nice basses that play great, but under the left hand it still feels like a piece of wood. Something about the Roscoe gives it a supple feel that makes you think the neck is moving with you, like it's trying to help you play. That's something a fine instrument should do: give you the impression that it's alive.

Now that the excess estrogen is out of my system, all I've got to say is: Dat Bass Play Good!!

My first guitar, in high school was a 12-string, so I've always been drawn to instruments with "too many" strings ;-)
I started on bass just 2 years ago, and I spent more than a year pretty much ignoring the Low-B (nice thumbrest). Really got into using it (and even the high-C) much more over the past 6-8 months. When you're ready for the 5th string (whether you choose to string it "conventional" BEADG or "solo-oriented" EADGC) it will be ready for you.
If you were in the Philadelphia area I'd be glad to have you play mine.

I'll tell you a thing RicKee, and it doesn't apply only to basses...
You can't lust for something FOR YEARS, it's not good for your health!
Now it's clear that you have a Roscoe obsession so ... hell, go for it! You'll kick yorself if someone beat you in pulling the trigger on that beauty!

I'll elaborate a little on this:

First - IMO, musical instruments as investments is a specialized skill best left to professionals with specialized knowledge and deep pockets.
You buy a high-end player to play, because it speaks to you, not because you think you can flip it for a profit.
That said, IMO a $1600 Roscoe is going to be way more liquid than a $4000 Spector, even if the Spector is worth it, and I'm not saying it isn't...
If you got the Roscoe and hated it (it happens - you just don't bond...) I think you'd be out way less money on a resale than if the same thing happened with the Spector.
$4000 basses are a hard sell in this market. IMO.

However I don't see how it relates to my quote... I was just suggesting RicKee to satisfy his desire to get and play a Roscoe. ;)

Those Basslines sound sweet on that LG2005 and that tight grain Northern Ash body gives it a nice mid.

But be careful lusting can turn you into a Roscoe Ho just like me and Penicillin won't touch it!

The prescription only builds enough antibodies to sustain you for a short while which becomes useless when a new adaptive strain of the Super Roscoe Bug appears. I think the more you visit the Roscoe Club thread the more likely you are to succumb. Its like Roscoeboli, some have found a cure but most haven't.

I'm getting some heat from the corporate beancounters and schedule wranglers to submit a vacation schedule.
I know your official answer is "I can say nothing..." 'cause if you couldda, you wouldda...
But I am asking anyway.
Is there a (possibly only tentative) target date for a Roscoe GTG ?
Since there's not but about a dozen temperate weekends a year here in the Mid-Atlantic, some are already filling up with events.
F'Rinstance a Lehigh Valley, PA GTG for "sometime in the May-June timeframe."

And sometimes people are looking to make a profit. For instance, a bass I paid $1,600 for (admittedly a good price) was recently listed for $2,600. Somewhere along the line its value increased $1,000? Ok , probably to have built now it would be much more, but seriously, it was built approximately 14 years ago. I don't get it.
