Roscoe Club

Well here is a small head with a big cabinet! I just got the cabinet, it is a GK Neo 412 (4x12) with a Carvin BX500 head. I barely had the amp on "3" and it was cranking! The cabinet is rated at 1200W, so originally I was going to use my GB Shuttle 9.0. But the little Carvin did great....which is good because I actually like it better then my Shuttle.

Well one month of waiting down. Now just 3 to 5 more to go. Good thing its only in two week increments! The anxiety of waiting on my first roscoe is unbearable. How did any of guys make it? I think I've read every thread on talkbass that even acts like it may pertaine to a roscoe.
"I have a fever and there's only one cure!" Sorry bout my jabbering, back to the "normal" roscoe talk (if there is such a thing).

I have waited for 3 Roscoe builds. It's worse than Christmas. But the end is SO worth it! My latest is certainly the best of the 3 I have ordered, an every close to the best of the 8 Roscoe's I have owned.

Be sure to post updates when you get them. We (I do anyway) love to live vicariously through others and watch these amazing basses come to life.

On the amp front, I am undecided. Tried local stuff and didn't like it - not enough to want to change anything. I'm thinking that maybe SS/clean is just my thing. I know my cabs are a little small, but I don't need much more and they sound good at the level of use for which they are designed. I like my JDI. I liked an Avalon U5 when I had that as well.

+1 on this, I used to have a GB Shuttle 6.2 as my main amp and a 6.0 as a backup. I bought a used Aggie TH 500 here on TB and now the GB 6.0 is for sale, the GB 6.2 is the backup and the TH my main bass amp. It does all that you mentioned.

I use the GB Streamliner 900 as my goto amp and a shuttle 6 as a backup. If it is an outside venue and it is raining my GBE600 gets used. I have had that amp for about 13 years and it has been rained on, had beer spilled on and knocked to the ground. the only problem I have had is the cooling fan died and I changed the tube to a Telefunken as of recent. Cabinet wise, it is Epifani UL410.

Roscoe + Genz Benz + Epifani = Musical Orgasm. :D

Lotsa activity today!

OK, first, there is no way to tell from a visual inspection of the front of the pickup whether it is a CB or a custom wound. The original invoice on the bass in question listed CB, so unless you pull the pickup out and read the model # on the back, and it starts with "76P4...", we're gonna stick with "CB" (P45CBC...)for now. ;) (not being snarky, just sayin'...:D )

Here is a picture of the back of the pickups....
neither of the marks seems to fit...image.jpg

My two Roscoes were stolen...by my wife. She is in the process of divorcing me. She took them this week and says she's going to sell one of them. If you come across any of them on the Net or otherwise, please let me know. They are:
  • s/n 5959 (SKB Custom; Maple top, Swamp Ash body, Bart pre and Roscoe/Bart pickups; standard M-PH-M neck; Pau ferro fb; standard inlay; black hardware)
  • s/n 6392 (Century Custom, Maple top; Mahogany body; spalted purpleheart fb w/matching/contrasting wood inlay; Aggie pre; 3 x J pickup configuration; standard neck; gold/black hardware)
My avatar includes both these Roscoes pictured: far right is 5959; middle bass is 6392.

Thanks for your help. Stefan 757-449-0027.

Yup, it's nasty stuff you're going through (sadly I've been there myself), but that doesn't mean that a) you should just take whatever garbage is thrown at you or b) she has a right to break the law. That isn't just "theft", it is "GRAND theft" in the state of Virginia:

Call the police, have them find her and explain just how SERIOUS the situation she is in could be, and have her return the stolen items.

If she has grounds for any kind of financial settlement, that is for the COURTS to decide, not her in an illegal and unilateral manner.

Very sorry to hear about this Stefan. :(
