Roscoe Club

A funny thing happened during my visit to Greensboro. Not only did I get to see an awesome Rush show but, I came home with this:

You may now all officially hate JoelFT. Not only ^THAT bass, the Rush concert, but also a meal at Sticks & Stones before the show (those that know, will be jealous, those that don't live in a dull world  ). Oh, and a good beer on the back porch at Hacienda del Gordo after the show. Yeah, he's special.

;)

Holy crap. Joel is one lucky dude. Any trip to Gboro is always good especially when it involves a visit to the shop, but add to that a Rush concert and picking up a bass (not to mention THAT bass) and it doens't get much better than that.

I am officially jealous, despite my Century Custom 5M keeping me pretty happy in that department. Joel's is just too good with that finish, the matching pickup covers and the dual MM setup. I'm assuming those are in the "Roscoe placement" and wired volume/blend with the OBP-3?

It seems as though my mission was accomplished. I gave Keith very few criteria on this bass. The only thing I really wanted was the dual Aggie MMs in wood covers (thanks to Roger at THG). The finish was left completely up to him. I unshackled him so as to let his artistry come through as he saw fit. I'm so glad I did too. This bass (Foxy Cleopatra as I like to call it) is even better than I hoped. It looks amazing, sounds killer, plays perfect and is stupid light weight.

I'm going to be recording a couple of tracks next week in the studio. So, hopefully I'll get some audio pretty soon. But, a good description about the tone is Roscoe's take on a G&L. There's some Stingray in there but, with the pickups in Roscoe Posistions it's still quite different. Soloing the neck has this really thick P tone. Love it.

Wow! That is Beautiful Joel!

What an awesome looking finish.......... and Roger did his standard awesome job of matching the top!!!

The way those pickups blend with the top reminds me of when Rambo was hiding in the dirt and mud on the side of the mountain .......

A very pretty bass, indeed! Not many of ours with the pickup covers!

In other news, I slapped some DR Pure Blues on my tobacco-burst SKB, and holy crap, the bass almost plays itself. This might be the lowest, minimal-buzz action I've ever had. And it growls so beautifully. Keith is a wizard.

Maybe this bass will spark a GTG. Everyone NEEDS to play it and, more importantly, hear it.

I am beginning to SERIOUSLY look at a fall thing right now, will be talking to a few interested parties over the next week or two.....don't hold your breath just yet, anyone, gotta get a lot of ducks lined up and standing still yet before it goes from "idea" to "thing". ;)
