Contrary to what Joe thinks, I'm really not that "sensitive".

The differences between 34" and 35" at the first fret (where the difference will be greatest), on Roscoe basses:
Where'd you get that photo?![]()
How about a pic showing all the frets lined up?The differences between 34" and 35" at the first fret (where the difference will be greatest), on Roscoe basses:

Maybe a series of pics. There has to be some distance to make up that extra inch and to keep the just temperament consistent.I'll look into that - keep in mind a photo showing ALL of the frets will be either too far away for detail or too close not to have perspective skew the look.
If you do a search, I believe JOME put one in about a year or two ago. He may have even posted some sound clips but I don't remember if he did or not.To all you Roscoe "modifiers"; I'm considering installing a Mike Pope Flexcore preamp in my fretted SKB Custom 5 (Ash body, Boxelder burl top, Padauk fretboard). I've read a great deal about the pre-amp and its merits. However, I'm curious to hear people's experiences and opinions concerning the Flexcore with the Roscoe Bartolini pickups compared to other pickups such as the Nordstrand dual coil models for the Roscoe.
Stick with the Bartolini pups? Bite the bullet and get the Nordstrands?
Thanks very much and Happy New Year!

Maybe something like this uber cool representation of short 30" vs. medium 32" vs long 34" - all with photos of actual Jazz basses out of Fender Japan. This view gives you some perspective~

Of course, being the OCD folks that they are, they actually scale the bodies down too.
To see the differences b/w the frets I would think lining up the nuts would be better.Re-scaling the bodies for the string's scale length actually skews the visual accuracy. For an accurate comparison, you will need to line up the bridges.

He did and I did listen to his sound clip which was very nice. I believe he was using the Roscoe Barts.

Oh well - yup, you're right.![]()
