Interesting. What caused the massive instrument churn. What didn't you like about all the ones you sold. Always curious about the dynamic of buying a massive number of somewhat similar instruments.

Regarding balance... pretty simple physics, mainly defined by the length of the upper horn.

My LG would dive if I the strap crossed my shoulder at the center (center of the strap length that is).

Once I picked up a good strap that didn't slip, I just moved the point of the strap that crossed the top of my shoulder until it hung like I wanted it to.

That did move the position of my hands relative to my body, but to me that wasn't a big deal. The LG hung perfectly.

You can definitely work with it with a good strap and if you are willing to position the bass optimally for that body style.

Your comment is almost useless except for the strap suggestion. Neck dive is not something caused by the user btw.

His comment was rude and pointless. I'm not causing next dive to occur by my own will and trust me I have plenty of testosterone. I'm sure it's an adjusting thing to the 5 as I had a Koa Century 4 before this.

I was just asking for suggestions. Not smart ass comments.

I've owned about 10 or 12 Roscoe's, and a few have been LG's. One of those few did have slight to moderate neck dive using the same strap I always use. I've also had 15 Zon's and 14 of them had no neck dive, but one did. It can happen, and it's more likely to happen with a short upper horn (Warwick Thumb anyone?). I doubt JWR is making things up to ruffle feathers.. Neck dive is one of those things that drive me nuts, so I understand your frustration. Good luck.

Absolutely not making it up! I LOVE Roscoe! I've been searching for years for the right bass and finally found it in Roscoe! The neck dive is fixable and I knew that, so I wanted opinions.

The only other bass I had any neck dive going on was my Warwick.

I'm looking into different straps. Love my Roscoe though.

I know you're not. Good luck getting it resolved. I use a Comfort Strap FWIW. One of those or a nice wide, padded leather strap may be your best options.

A band mate would let me use this in rehearsal. Cool bass and fun to play. I always played it sitting down and didn't notice any neckdive.

So I decided to use it at a gig and... holy neckdive batman. What upper horn? I luckily brought a back up and used it. ( I didn't really give it a chance or mess with the strap. I probably had the bass on for less than 2 minutes.). Still love the bass while seated though.

And to all of the back and forth. Joe's a really good dude and probably just kidding around. I honestly had no idea what neckdive was until this bass.

Gard has told me that when making a roscoe( six strings especially) they are careful about choosing a body that is
feather weight because that "could" create neckdive. LGs and Skbs more so then a century.

There's my 3 cents. Now off to a gig where there will me many gator fans celebrating! Hopefully ill have a new roscoe in my hands for next weeks gigs. Fingers crossed.

Take it easy brother. I know Joe and he is neither rude nor pointless. Your reply to him however...

Now, back to the subject. I once owned an LG five string that on my shoulder had absolutely no neck dive. I could take my hands off and the bass would stay put even though I use a slick leather strap. Although I loved the bass I wanted a six string so, I sold it. The guy who bought it swore up and down that it had some major neck dive. We determined that it most likely had to do with our respective physical sizes. I probably had eighty pounds on the other guy. So, who knows, maybe there is something to it.

I currently own a LG3005 and I have no neck dive but I use a good wide strap as I do not need a narrow one to get tired or have shoulder pain at anytime during an evening of playing.

To the op, just go for a wider strap with suede on the interior side of it, you'll see that works...

You may want to also look at the Gruv Gear Duo Strap.

Sorry to hear about your neck dive issue. I've never had and issues with any of the LG-3005 basses that I've owned. Maybe your basses body is especially light and/or the maple in your neck is heavier than normal. I have owned a couple bass that did have neck dive issues (not Roscoe's and when playing in a sitting position without a strap). However when using my Comfort Strap or Brooklyn Gear strap (even wider than the Comfort strap) I've found that I can place the bass in and position that I desire and it doesn't move. Both straps have a nice thick piece of foam rubber that really restricts movement on your shoulder.

As an additional peace offering, I'm not sure where you're located but we're having a bass GTG on Saturday Sept. 21st and you're more than welcome to come and checkout lot's of other Roscoe's (all models) and other really nice basses and amp/cabinets. You can also check out my Comfort Strap and Brooklyn gear straps.
We'll also feed you some great Georgia Bob BB-Q.

I hope that you work out the neck dive issue's with the LG Roscoe.
As an extra bit of info, LG stands for "Little Girl". So I'm thinking that a little testosterone might still not be a bad idea!;)
