Roscoe Club

Well, I did it. I went and visited my old college roommate and just had to take this home with me. I decided to show this more subtly than having my own NBD thread! I played this RMLE SKB Standard Plus and instantly fell in love!! Many thanks to RocketMusic. Please ignore the 2 six-stringers that made it into the shot! :)

Those RMLE Buckeye Basses are really nice and I actually prefer the Aguilar setup that they have to the Bart's lol. They really stand out in the band mix as good or better than anything I've played.

^Beautiful Roscoe! Those RocketMusic RMLE's are great basses! Greg knows how to spec a Roscoe (for sure)!

Congrats!
I wish I “needed” one of them. Greg has been my “dealer” since I first tried Roscoe. He got me hooked and hooked up. I’d like to thank him by buying one of the RMLE basses. Maybe someday.

Speaking of bridges I’m gonna assume that the stock one is Hipshot custom or offshoot of one. I wanna replace the aluminum one with a brass one but can’t really pin down an exact replacement. Anyone have a idea?

That sort of looks like the Hipshot B-style, but not quite. I've had good luck calling Hipshot and sending them a picture via email while on the phone to help identify parts.

That is the Hipshot Type B bridge.
The Type A that I ordered (BBG) is a .708 (18mm) spacing model. I was always under the impression that all 5 string Roscoe's had 18.3mm spacing but after measuring both my custom and STD bass bridges they are definitely .708 (18mm) spacing bridges. The Type B that Roscoe uses isn't staggered on the base plate so the model that BBG carries should work fine.

Thanks yeah I was 99% sure it's a Hipshot Type B but all the pics I can find are slightly different. Maybe Roscoe has them make them special for them?

Also here's another action shot from a private corporate gig with my Billy Joel tribute band. No trucker hat this time.

They have the Type A made special but I believe that the Type B is Hipshot's standard .708 (18mm) model (at least on my current Roscoe's). They may have started out using a special 18.3mm spacing bridge but that's not what's on mine (3-4 years old).
You may want to measure your center to center spacing (saddles) prior to ordering. They have been know to substitute parts from time to time (tuners for sure).

Yeah, the 2005 Roscoe is around 18.2/18.3 mm spacing.

Great news!!! My Roscoe Demeter BEQP-1 is being shipped!!! :hyper:
Now, decisions, decisions! So, which Roscoe LG Ash/Maple will get this preamp??

Cool!
The Demeter sounds different in ash basses verses mahogany. Are they both Ash/maple or is one body ash and the other maple?
If they're both ash, just flip a coin (unless one is a bit more aggressive sounding than the other; if so, put it in that one). If one is ash and the other maple, install it in the ash.
Regardless, it's a win/win situation!

Both LG's are Swamp Ash with B.E. Maple necks. One is the newly trade deal Buckeye Burl with the wedge neck and the other is the Gloss Koa top, which was the initial designated bass for the Demeter. I'll need to closely evaluate and compare the sounds of these two, but I may just put it in the Gloss Koa top since the Buckeye Burl has enough going on with its appearance.

4 in a row, wow!! Okay, so I'll make this my last post for the day and add just one more to the life of this thread.
I want to share something I do to help protect the finish from scratches behind the bridge when changing strings, aside from just being careful. I use a strip of cling vinyl and lay it on the body right up against the bridge base, and it stays there until I remove it. It doesn't hurt the finish and, if it's the clear type or a color that tickles your fancy, you can leave it there, or remove it and use it over and over and over and over.
Okay, you guys have a good one!!
