Roscoe Club

Also, I haven't posted a pic of my custom build in a long time, so here ya go:

Another reason why I love my Roscoes, this community or club that we have here. JOME77, that was awesome that you contacted Keith about the status of dykesh's build. Hopefully this will squash the thoughts of legal action... I hope you get your bass in that time frame dykesh, and I hope that the bass exceeds your expectations. Every Roscoe I have exceeds my expectations every time I pick them up.

I hope setting up the Classic line works out. I know people say they are awesome and most everyone makes a "Fender style" bass these days. Lull, Sadowsky, Lakland, etc. Some make only that style bass. That's fine.
I LOVE the Roscoe look. Century is my fav, but all 3 are awesome, and the headstock is my favorite of any I've seen. It's my favorite part of my bass.

Honestly, I think if I wanted the "classic series" tone (Aguilar pre and pups basically) I'd lean to getting it via one of the original Roscoe basses with that electronics set up. That way I get the body/headstock I love and the familiar neck that I also love. Something like this for a 4 string...

I've been tempted to make this my 4 string P/J bass for a while. Active/Passive, passive tone, all kinds of goodness. I wish I weren't such a 5 string guy. This is a great looking bass at a nice price.

remcult,
Is it just in a certain area of the finger board or is every where (even open)?

If it’s in all positions of the fingerboardI’d say it would be either a bad string or the bridge saddle (slot).
If it’s just in one area, maybe due to the routing for the truss rod or really inconsistent grain in the finger board (neither is a good thing).

I'd say it's pretty consistent throughout the fretboard

Don’t have many action shots, even fewer “good” ones, but this is ok from last night. Synth bass is blocking my real bass but it looks pretty good. Not sure what I’m looking at here but I never seem to get caught smiling.

It was a fun gig with a great crowd. Danced all 3 sets. I think having an opener (had a singer/guitar player do 45 before us) helps. The crowd can get a coupe in them before you go on so you don’t have to waste your fist set getting them ready to go.

What brand of instrument cable do you use that a right angle plug fits in the 'recessed' Roscoe jack?...
Frankly they all seem to work for me, although 99% of the time it's a Fender or a Shure wireless cable. But I've also used PlanetWaves, Mogami, Hosa, and a bunch of cable-du-jour generic backline-supplied cables. The one cable I'm sure I've never used is Monster... Maybe your jack is mounted a little too deep and could be spaced out some...

I can't remember, does anyone here use flats on their "non-classic" basses, an active Century5 for example? Just curious what type of music you play, how you find "that sound" on what I would call a very "modern" sounding bass.

I am very happy with the sound of my Century with D'Addario Nickels but always curious as well. I have basically one bass and it has to cover a lot of ground - church, pop cover, jazz, bluesy trio, etc. - and I'm curious if I'm better off staying with the rounds and "dialing it back" for the more "traditional" gigs or trying flats and using the preamp to "dial it up" for my other gigs.

I think most of my gigs would be considered "round wound" gigs like church and pop cover, although I know there are people that happily use flats in these situations as well.

Thoughts?
