Roscoe Club

Thanks!
The 5 string LG. I bought it used, then sent it to Keith for a spa treatment. I’m amazed how good that bass plays after getting PLEK’d

Very nice!
Yeah, if the frets need a leveling job, then the Plek makes a huge difference.
It's nice that they Plek a new bass but IMO, it would be nice if they provided a complementary PLEK that could be performed between the 1-3 year time frame for a bass (after the woods have totally settled).

While this is one of my favorite fretless basses, the neck dive (for me) has always been a bit bothersome.

I saw a post by a member with a Dingwall where he had something like this done to his bass (don't recall exact thread). And while I didn't understand the method he suggested to find the correct spot for the straplock, I had a beater that I tried this out on and it seemed to help.

So I took a deep breath and tried it on this one. Turned out okay.

The strap is a 4" Italia with the smooth backing.

If it makes you happy, then we're happy!
I've always been able to just move the location where my comfort Strap crosses my shoulder and my basses seem to stay there.
Might also be that I'm having to focus too much on trying to just play the right note (than being focused on how my bass is hanging). As long as it doesn't fall off the strap and hit the floor, I'm OK! :D

Also, I haven't posted a pic of my custom build in a long time, so here ya go:

Wow! That bass looks soak and wet! Such a nice glassy looking finish.
My fretless is the JB configuration too. The JB configuration with the Bart pre just kills on a Roscoe fretless! :bassist:

What brand of instrument cable do you use that a right angle plug fits in the 'recessed' Roscoe jack? I've been too nervouse to use my right angle cable because it feels like they barely catch before hitting the black metal jack surround.

I remove the electro-socket (that mounts the output jack), remove the nut from the output jack and reinstall it. That allows the output jack to protrude out enough to accommodate any right angle plug.

I have talked to Keith many times and for some reason, my business is of no importance. Every update has been untrue. I paid in full in January to help his bottom line and I have never had such a bad experience with a boutique builder.

Thanks for the help on this. I will keep everyone posted.

Dykes,
What's the status of your order now? Moving toward a delivery (I hope).

Just wanted to let you guys know that Dykes let me know today that he received a UPS tracking number on his new Roscoe last night! Great to hear that Keith and the guys came through.

Hopefully he'll post some pics after it arrives (and rave about how awesome it plays, sounds and looks)! :bassist:

I was killing some time this evening and wondered over to the Darin Huff Bass thread:

WARNING: Darrin Huff basses: over TWELVE YEARS and still waiting

Man! What a sad story! Or should I say "stories" .....

I'll take the "2 more weeks" status any day compared to what those folks are experiencing! Wow! Unbelievable!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

At any rate, while reading various post of the thread I came upon a post with this video:

It's amazing what companies get away with. It's also amazing that NAMM let's them attend the shows (knowing full well what they do).:rollno:

as Gomer said: "Shame, Shame, Shame!".

Yes the build time he experienced on a custom Roscoe is nothing compared to what really good Boutique builders normally do. My Custom Devon Cocobolo is going to be estimated 5-6 months total and that's with him doing me a fovor. He's very meticulous and downright "Anal" (his words not mine lol) with his process. He demands perfection.
