Roscoe Club

Thanks DG! This is Roscoe number 34 and I don't think I've ever had one sound quite like this. It's got to have something to do with the Wenge/maple Wedge neck and ash top. It's really different sounding.

That’s almost as many basses that @campbems has had in the past 12 months

Even more amazing when you note the "qualifier" JOME slipped in there. That was 34 Roscoes. Wonder how many non-Roscoes there have been..........

AND

He manages to stay married at the same time !!! To the same woman even !!!

DA' MAN

True..... Here are a couple the somehow slipped through my fingers.

My first Roscoe, picked it up from CrashClint. An awesome older instrument. I'd like to have it back.

THE MWAH MONSTER!!! The most MWAH and GROWL generating fretless ever born.

This could become an expensive conversation....... Maybe change the subject now before it's too late.....

I started setting up my new bass and the relief is extremely low, a very straight neck so I was going to adjust the truss rod. Just wanted to ask since this is my first Roscoe; is it still lefty loosey, righty tighty looking from the body to the headstock? Thanks

At the suggestion of Jome77, I thought I would post a little link here, yes it's another example of shameless promotion:

Progressive Rock Giant "Happy The Man" Back in the Game with Re-release

The thing that you may find interesting, is that my bass playing on this record is exclusively the Roscoe Twins, which Keith made for me around 18 years ago. Both are medium scale with RMC Midi Systems and no mags, as you can see:

With the help of the Roland V Bass - I managed a variety of fretless sounds and even an upright sound that I am pretty proud of. I had to go easy, our music is not suited to a fretless sound with a lot of mwuuuah... Subtlety goes a long way here.

The fretless examples are on the songs "The Muse Awakens" and "Slipstream" and I used the upright sound on "Adrift". All the songs are posted on YouTube if you want to put an ear on anything.

I know many of you guys get a real charge out of discussing the finer points of Barts vs. Auguilar and so on, and I certainly wouldn't want to rain on that parade.

But when it comes to Keith's amazing instruments, my point is - you don't even need any mags to exhibit a wonderful full, rich and deep tone from these awesome works of art.

Great sounding music Rick!
You got some great bass tones on those recordings.

You are correct Dykes. Just remember a little goes a long way. And be careful inserting and removing the allen wrench. We wouldn't want you to scratch that beautiful new Roscoe (even though we haven't seen a picture of it yet! Hint, hint!). :)

Well I haven't had the "new to me" Roscoe 2 weeks yet and I've already made a modification.
I replaced the plastic concentric bass and treble knob with metal knobs. You wouldn't believe how much better the bass sounds! Much more sustain in the low end ....... :D :bassist:

Now Joe that's like saying certain colors of pickguards make a bass sound diffrent lol. In all seriousness though, I swapped the stock metal Roscoe knobs out on one I had to wood knobs and it shaved 1/2 pound off total weight. Those knobs are heavy.

After many years of enjoying our own forum it appears that after Friday 04-05-13 the Roscoe Forum will cease to exist.

A sad day for all of us Roscoeheads but on the positive side we'll be mingling a bit more with the rest of the bass world!

I figured that I'd start off this new era with a Roscoe Club thread where everyone can post pic's of their basses and talk Roscoe talk .......

Here's a picture of my 2 Roscoe's (you can view the spec's in my profile):

Who owns this bass now?
