Roscoe Club

Roscoe basses have an uncanny ability to alleviate GAS for other basses! LolVery quiet this week on the Roscoe club thread. I guess that everyone is content.
I've been spending most of my spare time learning new material for a couple upcoming local jams. It's been a while since I've played classics or any of the newer secular tunes. After playing mostly acoustic based praise and worship it's been really fun working out more complex bass parts. I've been playing mostly my Roscoe STD JB 5 (with TI Flats) and a Fender Classic 60's Jazz (with EB Cobalt Flats) on the songs. They just seem to cop the vibe of the tunes. My favorite is still my Custom Signature SKB 3005 but I've been to lazy to change the strings (and honestly love the sound of that bass with nickle RW's).
Well, got to go practice playing "Bad Little Doggie"!Where do they get the name for these songs?
Somebody needs to buy a new or used Roscoe and wake up this thread!

Is that the j/mm century from the classifieds with the 19mm string spacing? How do you like it? The pickup placement was different, how’s the neck pickup?
Yes I love it. But I love anything I get from Chuck. He has the best taste. It’s perfect for me and sounds incredible.
One of my former Roscoe's. Definitely a unique sounding Roscoe. Not at all the typical Roscoe sound. That one setup so nicely!

The current family includes three Roscoes, none of which ever belonged to JOME...........

Pretty close! I am quite happy that SteveC sold it, but I'm not happy about it causing remorse. It is a wonderful bass. Hey, I only own one previous SteveC bass now, and I think no Jome77 basses!
The 'steelin' in my name is an homage to my primary instrument at NIU - the steel pan. I played 6- or 8-bass (pan) in the steelband and tenor for my lessons, being totally humbled by Liam Teague and Cliff Alexis, my teachers and mentors.
How do you like the century compared to the smaller sized bodies (skb and lg)? I’m digging my SKB but haven’t quite got the balance figured out...

coolI could never get used to the shape of the bottom of the SKB. Never sat on my lap right. I do play sitting quite a bit so it's a thing for me. The Century seems to fit better for me.
IF you ever sell it I'd like to have the first shot at it. Probably the finest Roscoe I have played, fretted or fretless, Standard or Custom.

that flame maple fretless with the neck pickup closer to the bridge? I always thought that bass had insane potential as a fretless, having owned a couple roscoe fretlii over the years. When it popped up a couple years ago or whenever that was, I was sweatin hard. Good to know my instincts are intact

Whats everyones opinion of the Roscoe Jazz basses compared to some of the other similarly priced boutique jazzes out there?
I haven't played one. I've heard videos and they sound nice. I'm guessing they play well. I have heard they are a little heavy but the newer models have lighter body woods as an option.

I tried a Classic PJ 4 string at Rocket last year and loved it. It had the Honey Badgers (passive) in it and the sound was full and defined with just enough sizzle from the J. Really comfortable to play - great neck and didn’t seem too heavy to me. Only thing I didn’t like was that it had a light relic job - I prefer to add my own wear and tear over the years. I’m glad Greg finally sold it so it won’t haunt me any longer!
