Hey Roscoe fans. I sold my SKB 6 string awhile ago, which I regretted. So now this beauty is on its way to me from The Bass Shop in Seattle. Born in 2007 but no signs of wear to speak of. More photos when I take delivery Thursday.

Question for the all-knowing Roscoe experts among you. So the bass I just purchased is a 2007 "3005." I know that current model nomenclature includes three body sizes, the LG, the SKB, and the Classic. Where does the "3005" fit in? Also, have the bridges changes since 2007? Thanks in advance...

The body styles are actually LG, SKB and Century. The Classic basses are Fender style instruments. Different bridges are used on the lower models like the standard as opposed to the Custom or Signature.

3004= 4 string
3005= 5 string
3006=6 string
3007=7 string

I’m also looking to change preamps, but I’m swapping tbe Aguilar OBP-3 for Bartolini (with p/p active passive and mid freq select pots). Grass is always greener and all

I'm considering changing the preamp in my SKB 3006. It has Bartolini electronics and I would like to install a preamp that is more open sounding. I know the Demeter sounds great but I also know how much "fun" it is to get anything from James' shop so I am considering the Audere preamp since it is reasonable priced and looks to be fairly easy to install.

Have any of you used the Audere preamp? I had one Roscoe with an Aguilar preamp and that is the only Aguilar product that I have tried and not liked. It sounded very edgy to me.

For what you're describing I'd say give the Nordstrand a try. Shot Bass Gruvitas a PM and he can describe it for you.

And of course I love the Demeter too but as you say ..........

As for the Audere ...... not my thing at all. Much to polite for my taste (at least the Roscoe version).

Looks like an SKB 5 string. Bart pups and 3 band Preamp. Spalt top.

So I’ve got a couple potential gigs and have been working on some new (to me) tunes the last couple evenings. The first night I used my Roscoe Custom 3005 with D’addario XL’s and last night I grabbed my Roscoe Century STD with TI Jazz flats. I was practicing using a version of the song (Blowin’ Smoke - Brent Mason) with the bass removed and I couldn’t believe the growly tone that I got with the STD with the TI Flats! The tone is awesome!
I know that I was loving the sound of the TI flats on the STD a couple of months ago but I kind of forgot about it while I honeymooned with the Sig Custom.
I’m thinking of installing a set on my Custom too. I’m curious if what I’m loving is the combination of the mahogany and JB Jazz p/u’s combined with the TI flats. I’m going to have to buy a set to put on my Signature Custom with Roscoe Bart’s so I can compare the sound.

And they feel soooooo good!

Lots of really nice used Roscoe's for sale on the TB Classified forum Shane. It's been a while since I've seen as many nice used Roscoe's for sale.

Definitely a buyers market too.

I was gassing for a Roscoe thunderbird years ago when this bass was made. I was told that although a good bass, ergonomically it was a bit of a challenge to hold and play. Your mileage may differ.

I may be in the minority but I have never cared for that thunderbird style body. Although that Roscoe is the nicest looking one I’ve seen.
