I hear you bro! Kansas IMO did their best music prior to Dust in the Wind and Carry On (not that those aren't great). "Kansas" "Song For America" and Masque" are awesome albums! Give them a listen.

Song For America is a great song to get your chops up. Time changes and licks galore!

So, 2 weeks later (about 10 hours of practicing) I finally have all of "Song For America" worked out.
I'm used to spending about 15-30 minutes to learn a song for church. This song kick my butt!
So many different licks and syncopation changes.
So much fun to play though!!!

Oh yeah. Roscoe content: "Song for America" sure sounds good with DR Hi Beam strings installed!!!

Can you say "like the bass keys of a really nice Grand Piano"? I though you could!

I should put new strings on mine. They were a little funky on the gig last night. Got that sort of out of tune thing a couple times while playing, even though they were in tune according to my tuner.
Always love the new string sound. Gives me G.A.S. relief, too.

Now that I think I’ve “cured/cleared” myself of thinking I want/need a “P” bass, I may start thinking about my original, original goal from a few years ago of having a “matching pair” of Roscoe 5’a...fretted and fretless.

Although I've had my fretless up for sale, I'm really glad no buyer came alone! With the pups and phase switches upgrades and PLEK it really is a nice Roscoe fretless.
Every fretted Roscoe bass owner needs a fretless Roscoe! Period!!
I say do it!!

I concur. Well, I don't have a fretted Roscoe bass yet, but my fretless is second to none, I think about a note and she sings it with a voice fit for an angel.

Hey Roscoe fam, would appreciate advice on this:

1) Anyone ever had a Roscoe with what looks to be Norstrand (big singles/splits/stacks/not-dual-coils?) and how'd it sound?
2) that fretboard... either it's REALLY figured, or needs a good cleaning (or both)...
(edit) and 3) That's either the most aged "white" I've ever seen, or they've never seen "gold" before.

I know GC isn't known for high-quality pics, but for crying out loud it's like they don't want people to actually see the instruments. My 12-year-old phone cam in a drawer somewhere could do much better.

I was in discussion thru email yesterday with Keith in which he valued the replacement cost of my Roscoe, and I was quite pleased. Wondering how the Roscoe fretless compares to the Pedulla Pentabuzz?

I had a sweetheart SKB 3006 Fretless. It was the best fretless I’ve ever owned. The only thing keeping me from going bonkers for another Fretless Roscoe is my Zon Sonus Fretless 5. Love to have another fretless Roscoe 6 someday but I’m satisfied for now.
