Roscoe Club

Do any TB'ers know the story on this LG 3006? For quite awhile, this has shown up on the GC site multiple times, only to be sold and reappear at a different location. It looks like people are requesting it being brought to their location and they are either refusing or returning it. Generally not a good sign. Just wondering what a buyer might be getting into.

Why not ask Keith or Rik about this bass. I’m sure they would have some info on it.

But honestly, Joe or Shawn knows about it. I bet one of them used to own it!

Why anyone would move from D'Addario EXL170 to another string brand, except for maybe Curt Mangan, I just don't understand!

Yeah ........ After experimenting (AGAIN) with everything out there I ripped 'em all off and put on a new set of D'Addarios XL Nickel RW's on both my fretted basses. I guess that I didn't play them for 25 years for no reason.:)

I'm going to buy an inexpensive Fender style P-bass and install flats.

Well, that is what swayed me to a Lull. The weight and the Classic look. Oh, well. Sounds great and I will Test it out live at church tomorrow through the avioms.

I am still not quite sold on the look of the classic headstock. I know there’s only so many variations on the theme for the Classics, but the Roscoe (non classic) headstock is my favorite thing about the look of a Roscoe bass. I think it’s the best headstock design in the business.

There’s the weight as well. I know it has been addressed and the P at Rocket is only 8 pounds. I haven’t played a Roscoe classic, but of all the “P” basses I have played (except for a certain 59 Fender a friend of mine owns) I have liked a plain old Fender Standard.

I went to DR Nickel Lo-Rider strings from the EXL’s for increased string tension since my original band tunes down a step. I played with the D’Addarios for a long time, but they were just too springy at that tuning.

Played all 3 services with the Roscoe Classic and had no problems and sounded great. The weight was not too bad since I have a gel strap and a Mono strap that distribute weight nicely.

How's the back/shoulder on the day after 3 services playing that 11 pound Roscoe Classic? I assume you were standing while playing. How does the weight influence the tone?

Bass sounded great through the Avioms and my father (40 years as a sound tech) said it sounded great through the House Speakers. It was def heavier, but it balanced well with my gel strap and my back/shoulder is not hurting today.

Because some of us found other strings to be superior for what we want. Insider secret: Roscoe gets a great deal on the D'Addarios. So that's what new basses get. It's not like he builds the basses around the strings.
