Roscoe Club

Official order placed today! I'm getting one of the new Roscoe headless basses built. I can't wait to drag it around the world's airports.

Specs:
Headless six string
Ash body
Maple burl top
Transparent orange
Wenge fret board
Aguilar DCBs
Aguilar OBP-3 pre

Still working on the name, no "official announcement" yet, but Keith is leaning toward one that was put forth by VroomVroom:

...comments?

:hyper:

...also another not "officially announced" bit of fun information:

We are now offering "headless" versions for all Custom and Signature basses!

This will be a $750 sale price option, for those interested in it.

You guys are doing some cool stuff. I always thought it would be cool to have on of those Zon 'Vinnies' or whatever they call their travel bass. Neat idea.

Name.... pretty clever. I like it, although I wouldn't want it on the headstock..... oh wait:D

I've heard some people say it reduces weight and balances better. Thus easier on the body. Again- just what I've heard.

With a really small body, +1 on the balance. The Century body balances wonderfully though, so zero issue there, and weight reduction is better handled by just spec'ing a body blank on the lower end of the weight continuum that the Roscoe guys feel comfortable with.

I guess it could be visually pretty cool though, and those fancy tops we all pay more for have very little impact on anything but aesthetics also, so I guess it would be a fun option for some.

My thought was that length is really the only issue for overhead bin storage. My second thought was that the small body that they did on the first one wasn't particularly attractive. Ruh-roh.

So I pushed Roscoe to add the headless option as an option to their three traditional body shapes. Personally I prefer the look of the larger body, and I think the hand carved ridges on the body tops will really make for a gorgeous headless instrument.

One place where balance would be improved is with an LG 6-string. On the one hand, that's the most famous Roscoe model (see Jimmy Haslip). On the other hand, it's also the only model that can have sometimes questionable balance (depending on wood choices). A headless LG 6 could be the bomb... yo. :)

With a 5 or 6 string LG, makes sense for sure.

Oh, BRIDGE spacing we can address, it's really the nut we cannot. :)

:ninja:

****.

I thought you had everything you could possibly want/need now that you have your fretless. :hiding::D

I do. I am actually very content with what I have. However. .......

A nice compact travel bass with 20mm string spacing that plays and sounds just like his full-sized basses is now haunting his thoughts....

:hyper:

Damn you!

Oh you're in trouble now Ryan!:D

Yeah, I know. Ever since I (briefly) had a Lefay Pangton, I have wanted another headless bass. No idea why, I just really dug the whole headless thing.

But, I can probably fight off this urge. For now, anyway.;)

Can you guess who's birthday party we are playing at tonight?

Thomasville Ga knows how to party.

Dudes, the PJ just killed on the gigs this weekend. Perfect for the country gig I was doing (with Nashville recording artist Ray Scott), opening for Sawyer Brown. The FOH engineer loved it. I loved it. Ray loved it.

Mission accomplished!
