HA!

Gotta love it.

Just wanted to say congrats on the new one - she is a darling - I hope you have many long hours of fun and satisfaction with her in your hands......

The CD is still in rotation in the car.....

Thank you! Glad you're still liking it!

I need a little help/advice.

I've been playing my shorty roscoe as much as possible and after Thursday's gig I noticed something I've never experienced with any bass before. I took it out of the mono case and noticed a SMELL. It actually smelled like fish oil? I have no idea how this happened. The only thing I ,regretfully, did different was eat a hot dog between sets and didn't get a chance to wash my hands. How that could make it smell like fish, I don't know?

The smell appears to also be in the mono case, Specifically at the neck padding. And the smell on the bass is only on the neck, where the padding in the case is. I am, normally, very particular about making sure my hands are clean before picking up the bass.

Anyone ever had a smell on their bass or bag? Does wenge in the neck make it more apt to absorb?

I also don't sweat while playing. Just not sure.

Also - the smell is not terrible but definitely not preferred. No one else would notice it, but nobody wants their bass to smell..

I would appreciate any advice available. Also - feel free to crack jokes as I'm sure it would be easy.

Nothing says 'mojo' to me like the slight smell of fish oil. Smell it proudly:D And, as an added positive, might lower your cholesterol over time.

Here's my Roscoe and bass rig.

Not sure Keith but something smells a little fishy!:D :hiding:

Seriously though, it sounds like it's time for a little carpet fresh in the gig bag and a good cleaning/polishing. Rub some good finger board oil into the FB too. Maybe that'll neutralize the smell. I'd certainly rather smell oil than dead fish!:)

Thanks, this is truly the best sounding Roscoe of the 5 I've owned. I took it to practice after I got it (Country Band), not only did they love the looks (a shock, I thought they would find it too foo-foo) but they were in awe of the tone and asked me to gig with it. I will, but only on larger stages with plenty of ceiling height.

LOL! Yeah, my basses have come in contact with ceiling tiles in the past. :D

Official order placed today! I'm getting one of the new Roscoe headless basses built. I can't wait to drag it around the world's airports.

Specs:
Headless six string
Ash body
Maple burl top
Transparent orange
Wenge fret board
Aguilar DCBs
Aguilar OBP-3 pre

Thanks Joe and everyone else for the comments. I've determined the smell is somehow in the case and it rubs off on the neck. Sprayed it with a nice scent and now my bass smells good every time it comes out of the bag.
