However .....

You do need to fix those ball ends!:D

Are you talking about how they are lined up? You can't really fix that, as the ball end needs to be free to spin as you are winding them up. The balls will fall where they may. If you lock the ball down first then install the string, you will end up with twisted strings.

Of course you are right about this for mere mortal folks.

However, @JOME77 has not only perfected symmetric alignment of string ball ends, he does so while keeping tuner adjusters parallel with each other, at a constant 45º angle to the plane of the headstock, all while keeping proper tuning, in perpetuity.

This saves audience members from being blinded by tuner glare, leaving such blinding effect to his playing brilliance. Shine on. .

If you want to be "Six time World Champion" you're going to have to learn how to think outside the box!:)

Preach it Fritz! :woot::woot::woot::bassist::bassist::bassist::hyper::hyper::hyper:

I'm in the habit of always tuning any bass I pickup to play, so usually, I'll notice the bass being out of tune with itself before anyone else does. But mistakes while playing bass in a gig situation never happens!!! Everything I do and note I play is on purpose! :)

I leave mistakes to the other band members. I was once told that I was playing a song in the wrong key, but I wanted to play it in that key..is it my fault they couldn't make that tiny adjustment?

Played this bass this morning with our band at my main church and man what tone and power. It cuts through a mix better than any bass I’ve ever played.

Hi all. I've got a problem. This is my problem:

BS085_grande.jpg

This is Garry Tallent's Roscoe fretless bass, made in 1990 (hence the marble finish), currently on sale at Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville.

I was stopping thru right fast with my stepdad while we were dropping off a 1960 Fender P bass at Gruhn Guitars to get some neck restoration work done.

Not even plugging it in, I sat down and had it delivering a fatter, juicier sound, with a more handleable neck and effortlessly balanced body, than any fretless I've laid hands on plugged-in or not.

I'm going back to Nashville in a few weeks to pick up the Fender, but got a jonesin' to stop back over at Carter and this time plug it up.

Considering its price, I doubt I'll be walking out with it... but then again, I theoretically have room on my credit card, and could probably finance.......
