Roscoe Club

Dang, that’s purty. Is that the standard translucent blue from Roscoe, cobalt blue, or a custom shade?

I want to think it was called Cobalt blue nut I'm not sure. I found it in another Roscoe Bass picture I found and reached out to Keith asking if he could build me a bass using the same color. It's my favorite sports team color (Kentucky Wildcats lol) and fovorite color in general. Always wanted to do a build this color.

I believe that it is Cobalt Blue.

From hence forth this bass shall be called "Little Boy Blue".

Beautiful bass. Glad that it sounds as good as it looks!

Hope your quest is over!

I think that’s the curse of a bass player lol. Always looking For ways to improve tone. Now it’s for the first time learning pedals and having a pedal board. Recently put this together over the last month and really liking it. Actually tried it amp less for the first time in my life and the tone was really good.

It is a never ending quest isn’t it?

Went the pedal route but starting to revert back to a purer tone....just the bass and amp ....(I did have to add a compressor this morning)

I don’t think it’ll replace my Roscoe anytime soon, but it is a fun bass. There were no keys or drums today so anything would have “cut” and I was just heard more as it was just me and guitar. I do plan to try it one Sunday with everyone there and see how it goes.

I my plan is to use it for jazz gigs as a pseudo upright.

It is fun to play a short, small, 4 string neck. Seems so fast and easy.

Sound guy at church said this cuts better than my Roscoe...

74 mustang with LTF’s

I was in GC yesterday and played a few Fender Pro 4’s. I really went to check out the Precision but they had a Pro Jazz 4 that was totally off the charts in playability and tone. It followed me home!:)

It didn’t help that they had it on a 5 day sale for $400 off.

Still totally love my Roscoe but I love my 4 string P-basses and Jazz too.

XYZ basses I've had over the years in chronological order from 1980s:

'60s Fender pre-CBS Precision 4. Gift from friend
'70s Music Man Stingray 4. Traded '60s Tele
'90s Warwick Corvette 4, used
'90s Warwick Thumb 6, used
'90s Warwick Thumb 5's, fretted and fretless models, used
2000s Pedulla MVP5 and Pentabuzz, fretted and fretless models, used
2010+ Roscoe 5 strings

Until the Warwick Thumb 5 duo, I owned one bass at a time. Sold the Thumb 5 duo for the Pedulla duo. Sold/traded those for Roscoe.

I have never wanted to go back to a bass model/style that I owned previously. I know exactly how they sound and play. Been there. Done that. Looking forward, not back.

Completely satisfied with Roscoe basses. Have no desire to play any other bass.

Don't need/want to emulate P/J bass sounds. Just want to sound like me, with presence in a mix. Can always find sounds I like/love on a Roscoe 5. Happy club thread contributor.

I try to be like this. I do sometimes think about a “P or J” but basically, no matter what bass I play, people say I sound like me. I like to think that’s a compliment.

Good friend gave me a set of chromes last week to try. I've been playing EB Cobalt Flats for quite a while and I guess he thought I needed a change. This guy in "right" way more than "wrong" so I figured it was worth a shot.

To make a long story a little shorter, I cycled through three different types of strings before I ran across an old set of TI Flats. I put them on, did a quick tune, and walked down from the low G to the low C.

I was forced to lean back and take a quiet moment. I was home again. I'd forgotten that deep / full / broad and smooth the sound was.

Played in church this morning for the first time in quite a while. The Roscoe / Bergantino combination (with the TI Flats) for the accompaniment part in the contemporary worship selections we played this morning was right on.

You guys enjoy your XYZ flings......... Just don't expect me to play along. XYZ never put a silly smile on my face like my Roscoe(s).

:woot:
