Roscoe Club

Thanks for the input guys! I have to take a closer look tonight. I am trying to add some relief by loosening the truss rod on my fretless, and it sure seems like I am at the end of the travel on the nut of my rod.

If there's no tension on the rod but you still want more relief, then you could try a slightly heavier gauge string set (or a set with higher tension in the same gauges). That should pull the headstock up some more.

Not on a Roscoe, but here are a couple of clips of new TI Flats on a Sire fretless (V7, ash with maple fb). IIRC, these were done in passive mode.

For the Diamondwood fingerboard fretless contingent...
I am -this- close to pulling the trigger on a set if TI Jazz Flats which for a 6-string is not a trivial, impulse purchase...
I like the sounds I'm getting with my Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats even as it is just a 5-string set with a leftover D'Addario HalfRound in the C position. Don't ask me why Ernie Ball can't figure out how to make a 0.030" string - I've asked them and they aren't saying...
But I still hear the siren song. I had a set of TI flats on a fretless a while ago but I was too new to the experience to be able to appreciate what I was hearing...
So my big question for them's that's done it: What's the Mwah like? Is there some? Is there a lot? If there's a lot, does it respond to the standard mwah-limiting adjustments?
I want there to be somewhere between 'some' and 'a bunch' but it needs to be available "on demand" with no more than bridge, neck, and technique adjustments.

Guys why don’t you buy it or hush. It’s not like most members that’s been here for a while hasn’t sold or traded lots of basses.

Shane.
Coming from a guy that's had 34-35 different Roscoe's ....... Go for it bro!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

As long as you're staying in the Roscoe family we don't mind at all!

You're definitely not alone Shane. I cycled through eleven In one twelve month period, and every one was top shelf. Any one of them could have been a life bass (they were that good).

It was a heck of a ride and way too much fun.

Not sure what prompted my settling down. Could be I just found MY perfect trio.

Enjoy............

When Keith sends you a slab of wood to have Knobs made from he gives you enough to make 100 or more sets lol.

I’d probably go for it too if I preferred Buckeye and the SKB body style. I think for Shane the answer to both is “Yes”!

Considering that I DO prefer Buckeye AND the SKB shape (and I have an RMLE buckeye/SKB) I am having a TON of GAS right now, that unfortunately coincides with not NEARLY enough fun money!

It’s probably been discussed ad nauseam- but do any of you Roscoeheads run a Glockenklang onboard preamp in your Roscoe? Or Demeter?
How do they compare to the standard Bartolini pre in Roscoes, tonally ?
(I own Glock cabinets & have owned their amps, I know it’s great stuff) Just curious as to your opinions... Ive got the Bart pre in my lg 3005 (w/Bart pickups) & it is great , but -
I’ve got a Bart pre in my Modulus, & Curbow Petite also.
Was contemplating switching my pre in my Roscoe to a Glock or Demeter, to have some different tonal options..
Thanks for any opinions...

Arthur, The Demeter pre sounds really nice in a Roscoe. Really smooth mids and lows and really glassy highs. It’s not a real aggressive preamp but you literally can’t get a bad sound out of it. By far the best slap sound you’ll ever hear from a Roscoe.

Nice rig! Have you played through the 10s as well? What is your take on the difference between the two?
Thanks! I have played the 4x10 SL and it was awesome too. I guess I just wanted to go with 12’s and that SL 212 is a beast and every bit as loud as the 4x10 in my opinion. I liked connecting the single SL 112 to the 212 and that had a bearing on my decision
