Roscoe Club

Love the fretless, @Bass Viking!

Hey all, I'm gonna put a feeler here for moving on from my LG Custom 5. It was made in 2014, purchased new from dealer in 2016. It's a killer bass, the Roscoe that's in the best shape out of my whole bunch, and super tight tonally with the wenge, ash, walnut, and angled bart package. My thing is - as much as I take care of my instruments, I'm just extremely hesitant to take this one out on a gig due to its immaculate condition. I've seen my other Roscoes sustain a few bumps and bruises on gigs (and I'm proud of it even if I'm angry when I find the marks). Please dont say you'll come to my house and dent it to solve my problem...I can also use the proceeds to pay for my last Roscoe purchase.

So, here it is...I'll be listing it when I have the time soon. Thinking of asking $2975 shipped once I make the listing, but if you catch me now I'll cut a deal. :)

Ooh that's purty.... I'd inquire about trade interest, problem is the bass I'd trade for is equally immaculate. If you ding yours first, I could.... eh nevermind.

I just bought a couple of wall hangers and bumpers. I've only used stands in the past. Any expert advice before I start punching holes in the wall?

Disclaimer: not expert advice, but I do have 12 string instruments hanging, well-humidified. 5 hangers up since 2007 are pictured below.

Find the stud! If not, anchor really well.

Apologies for the dark pictures (night time), but here's 10.5" on center, staggered group of three; also, 24" spacing on the acoustics. These 5 hangers were done before I owned a Roscoe.

More numbers: a Century is about 13.5" at its widest point (didn't search the group for specs, just a quick tape measure), so if you hung hooks 16" apart, you could achieve 2.5" between Centuries and possibly hit studs.

XYZ Alert -

With 12 instruments hanging, I'd say you are definately an expert. Thanks for chiming in and for the numbers and the photos. That will help me tremendously. I'll probably need to go with the staggered group of three in the beginning. I doubt I'll be able to hit studs, so that worries me a little.

Get a stud finder! Or use drywall toggle bolts. But either way, you'll do well to get yourself a stud finder.

If your walls are sheet rock/dry wall, you can either tap on the wall near an AC plate or light switch to hear how it sounds when you hit a stud (the sound is a dull thud), or buy a cheap stud finder. Most studs are 16'' OC from each other, but the wall hanger with three mounting holes won't usually all hit a stud. So line up just the center hole at the stud and the other two can be on the side of the stud and use appropriate hollow wall anchors.

Snap Togglers are your friend if you can't locate a stud.
