This was a RARE occurrence where I didn't think the Bart/Bart setup was optimal...this is the one with the Norstrand pre (2 band & tone). I felt it tamed the pickups better. Love the sound!

Having played Nordy and Bart preamps, I am guessing that the Nordstrand pre is a little more transparent, whereas the Bart preamp might color the tone (in a beautiful modern way). Thoughts?

You know, for me, and in this one bass, the Nord works better for the sound I have in my head of what I want a jazz bass (60s position) to sound like. The Bart pre came off slightly harsh, and the Nordstrand seems slightly more mid-scooped comparatively. I also love riding the tone knob to fit what I need, which the Bart didn't have in that stock configuration.

Ok, @scubaduba, the back of your bass can be in the club since you have a koa back and a 66% maple neck. Seriously beautiful bass, though!

Good question...I do not recall. If I locate the spec sheet or pull out a pickup, I'll update you!

My 2 new 2020 Roscoe basses...Both are phenomenal basses. My new Koa just got here in time for me to use it live tonight with the band...

I really love the recent trend of "imperfection" in Keith's finger/fret-board selection. The natural, raw, non-symmetrical look really adds a level of beauty that contrasts with how well he marries up the body.

Seriously, that's the intangible artistic side that you just don't really get (at least, not on purpose) from anyone else.

Man this bass is so tight sounding and cuts through the mix effortlessly. The B string is like a cannon and I used it alot tonight because it was like a hammer lol. Very pleased with this bass.
