Roscoe Club

As of a year ago, he still had some diamondwood lying around, but the color pallete was limited.

Looks like unlined Pau Ferro and Lined/Unlined Black Diamondwood are the only options according to the current price list. I think the light 'maple' diamondwood has been gone forever as of about 2018, and the black is soon to follow.

Cool slanted pickups a must for the cool factor imo.

Tbh I'm not super ecstatic about the dry look of the diamond wood boards I've seen online, but I'm sure the guys know what they're doing.

Anecdotally, I've GOT to throw my hat in the ring for the remaining diamondwood that Keith may have. I have 2 with diamondwood, and they are phenomenal, and will become 'unobtainium' soon enough, which is a cool factor. ;)

Thats good to know. He just got back to me with some exciting options I didn't know they were offering (maybe not my place to say here?).

Anyways that is to say I was excited to pull the trigger this morning, im even more excited and very close this afternoon.

What are they using now instead of diamondwood for fretless boards?
Pau Ferro, Diamondwood, Katalox, and Ebony. The latter is a $600-$700 upcharge. Katalox is very interesting to me as a Diamondwood alternative. It is a very hard wood (Janka), that is not endangered. It can also have many grain, figuring, and color patterns.

Still no use of my index finger on my left hand but I did manage to 3 finger a chordal part to the soundtrack I was working on. No fancy playing here but IMO it does demo the sound of the Nord pre coupled with the Roscoe Bart p/u's (and new DR Black Beauty strings). I'll add a few more solo parts after I heal for now this will have to do ......

The song title is inspired by the 2020 Presidential election.:)

So my finger is almost healed so I recorded a few more parts to the Soundtrack. I opted to go with a bit heavier sound so with the the over drive incorporated it's not much of a good sampling of the sound of the Nordstrand preamp. But I had fun and that's important too!

Also in honor of "fretno" I changed the title to simply "The Fly".

I always enjoy your recordings, Joe. A cool drum beat with awesome Roscoe bass tracks on top. I appreciate the time you take to make these. Keep it up, man!

Thanks Gary!
I actually just metaled it up a bit more in the middle.

So I spoke to Keith, great dude and fantastic communication! But def now understand that the bass I want is going to require a bit more of a commitment than I can make this year

So I am thinking about testing the Roscoe waters on the used market first.

Does anyone know what the string spacing is typically on the 5ers? And is it consistent across all body shapes?

Many thanks,

18.3 with slight adjustments available at the bridge.

I'm pretty sure that it's typically 18.3mm on the 5s, and consistent across the different shapes, though I'm not sure if that's true for the "Classic" models.

Not a real big deal (because the saddle spacing is somewhat adjustable) but the newer Roscoe's that I've owned have been 18mm with the Type A Hipshot bridge (Customs models) with the saddles set to the center position.
Sometime around 2010 or so they unofficially changed from 18.3mm to 18mm (although I've never had Keith or anyone from Roscoe confirm or state why).
The last couple STD models that I've owned (Type B Hipshot bridge; non-adjustable side to side Saddles) were also 18mm.

So, what are you looking for in a Roscoe?
I am sure there are a few owners willing to depart with a beloved Roscoe.
