Ordered a set of Pressurewound 4 string set and a single 28 C string.
I figured that I'd try them first. Hopefully they'll be in the neighborhood of the EB Cobalt flats that are currently on my fretless.

Let us know what you think when you get them on and set up!

Ok. So the GHS Pressurewound arrived the other day and I installed them last night. I A/B'd a sound clip of the bass with both strings installed and in the end the EB Cobalt flats are back on the bass. They just sound too much like nickel RW's and don't have the warmth that the EB Cobalt Flats have (IMO). Plus the Cobalts feel so nice and smooth (and will probably cause less damage to my Poly coated Ebony finger board).
Here's a copy of the clip if anyone is interested. The first verse is the bass with the EB Cobalt flats. The 2nd verse is the bass with the GHS Pressurewounds.
Anyone want a set of 5 string E-C GHS Pressurewounds at a really cheap price?

Excited to drop this new Nordstrand 3b-5b preamp in my Koa Roscoe. I've used this setup on several basses and it's by far my favorite preamp. It will be a 5 knob with active passive and tone control.

Wow and I thought 7 was a challenge. LOL.

It is! I think the difficulty goes up by 10 with each additional string added above 5.
I'm sure all it requires is Will and Determination to master playing a 9 stringer, along with basketball palming size hands!

I had Brian Ristola message me and told me he had one hid back for hard times and offered it to me lol. It's good to have connections. They are now saying it will be April before they have any more Nordstrand preamps.

Awesome! Brian is a great guy. He actually started BBG way back in the day (and builds some very good basses).

I had a roscoe 7 for a short time, Was fun to have it but I couldnt see gigging it so didnt hold on to it.

Same preamp as his regularjust adds active passive and a VTC control. This is sold though.

Great price Shane (especially with the VTC and active/passive sw). No wonder it didn't last long!

that being said, you're going to love the Nord with the Roscoe Bart's! Purely the sound of heaven!

Question on this preamp install. It came with one battery hookup instead of 2 -18v like my Current Bart system. Do I just spiice the 2 together to the new Nordie setup?

They need to be wired parallel for 18VDC.
I usually just use the harness already in the bass and send the new battery connectors with the old preamp.
