Well after thinking it over for a few days..... I think 5 is enough Roscoe’s for the time being LOL. Maybe even one too many. So anyone knowing anyone who wants to trade for a really cool 7 string... or it can remain serving as my guitar LOL.

I hear you Scott. I’ve had over 30 different Roscoes but never more than 3 at a time. And those were diverse enough to justify them (5 & 6 string fretted and 6 string fretless). I could see a person wanting 4-5 though if you went with say the above and the a P/J, JJ and JM.
I think I’m going to be fine with 2 now though. The Signature 3005 w/Roscoe Barts p/u’s/Nord pre and a Custom P/J. I’ve got my fretless needs covered with a great sounding Gecko 5 that I put together 17 years ago and my 4 string needs covered with a great Fender Elite P/J. I’ve got an inexpensive good playing/sounding Sterling MM 5HH for risky gigs if needed.
That pretty well covers my sound and playing needs these days.

@Joe BassPlayer id love to add either a Sterling or Stingray 5 for those gigs but since there are basically no gigs for me at the moment I’m more than good with what I have. Doesn’t mean I won’t trade for something else 15 minutes from now.... but that’s me. :^o

I’ve found a used ash body century online and the seller says it’s 11.6lbs. Does that sound right? My century is about 8.5lbs, so I’d much prefer something close to that.

some ash is really heavy unless it’s Swamp Ash.

This one was close to that. Ash and bubinga. Heaviest bass I ever owned.

Yeah. Really depends on the top and how thick it is. And yeah, swamp ash can vary in weight.
The one that Bernard posted has a bubinga top and it can be really heavy.

Can you chamber a bass body after it's built? I guess you can and cover the area with a plastic cover or something.

Is it a six string bass? What are the other woods?

If I ran across that bass I would be curious about the weight. Would it really be intolerable with a 4" strap? Is it a tonal beast?

11.6 pounds wouldn't be my goal weight for a new bass. I would definitely consider it for a used model, though.

My SKB 3006 is around 11.5ish and it definitely sounds like a beast. Fwiw I use 4" straps on all basses and it works well.

Edit: Actually I was mistaken. Its around 10.8-11lbs. 11.5 was my guess. It actually feels heavier than an 4 string of similar weight though because the neck is so robust imo.

I have a set of Gotoh Resolite GB350s on the way. I'm going to try to get it down to 10.5ish range.

I love the Resolites GB350s. They look great, work great and are like feathers. I understand the regular Gotoh 707s that are on it are not heavy but the GB350s are even lighter.

Well my Custom 3005 P/J arrived safely yesterday evening. I'm very pleased with everything about the bass. It's even more beautiful in person. Wonderful setup! Plays effortlessly. My first impressions of the P/J configuration is good. It doesn't really sound like a Fender style P/J (much warmer) but since I have one of those that's a good thing. With the EQ set Flat (or passive), it's got a lot more warmth to the tone. Of course in the active mode, with a little boost of the mids it comes much closer to a signature P-Bass sound. I think it's going to nicely complement and complete my collection of basses. Looking forward to giving a whirl in a live mix. That ultimately will determine whether the Aguilar combo stays as is.
The weight is a comfortable 8lbs 10ozs. Light enough to feel nice with a strap and heavy enough to have some girth to the tone.

I'll have to say that I'm a bit surprised how petite the Century body looks (in person) with the red to yellow burst finish. I've decided not to cut off some of the upper horn with my jig saw.

I definitely feel fortunate that this bass came available at a time that I was looking for one.

I've got to say, after playing the bass more this morning (only played it a few minutes prior to breaking it down and cleaning and setting it up) this bass has a lot more of the traditional P-bass sound tham I originally thought. Great burpy j-bass tone too (with the blend set favoring the bridge jazz p/u). I might just like this Aguilar combo!

Congratulations on this beauty. My first Roscoe had this electronics and really hooked me on the Roscoe brand.
