Roscoe pictures (from Roscoe Forum)

Ha! I just noticed this part! Jerry, we are indeed birds of a feather as I do this too w/ the help of a small screwdriver to hold the end still. FYI, OCD should really be CDO as alphabetical order dictates. :help:

Hilarious, Adam! That's actually my sig file on automotive detailing forums: "I'm not OCD. I'm CDO. It's like OCD, but in the correct alphabetical order." :D

I do it by feeding an old string through all the ball ends,so they can't twist, or the screwdriver, if you need the holes vertical(for the Hipshot bridge), like you guys have. :hmm:

Though, lately I've managed to just pop 'em on without doing it, must be the part of me that jjust wants the Roscoe playing asap. :D

My old Roscoe......:crying: And a cool pic of it side by side with its uncle: Gards fretless!

Those of us patient, "true" SES (string end straighteners) will tell you that having the ends aligned:
1) improves continuity of your tone across all strings
2) keeps your bass in tune better
3) lengthens the life of your tuning gear & key
4) in general, improves your overall ability to throw down tasty grooves and melt audiences' faces with blistering solos

:bassist:

Beautiful photos, fellas.

I'm too practical to be an SES, I guess, and I can accomplish the same face-melting effect with a pre-gig meal of chili, coleslaw, and a half-dozen hard-boiled eggs.

The cold nachos and Pabst Blue Ribbon I had at the Alice In Chains concert last night has certainly melted faces. :D Btw, nice lookin' Roscoes. I think I may have to buy one.

Yea Bill,

I'd think that the excuse for the CDO as Jerry and Adam put it, would only be able to gain merit with a sufficient level of Talent .

Otherwise you're just wasting your time. Like me for instance (At audition) "Hey fellas, I can't play for monkey dung, but my string ends are in perfect alignment. Do I get the job?"

:smug:

:D

God Bless, Ray

I tried the "I'm already in tune, what more do you want?" approach recently, to no avail.... :D
