Did they just tape off a line where no stain would go? Or is that a separate shim?

What's the weight? I love mahogany but opted for Spanish Cedar on mine.

I'm not 100% sure. At first I thought it was a separate layer, but looking closely at the way the grain lines up, I think it might have just been masked off. In any case, it's very well done and a nice detail that really shows the company's craftsmanship.

I'm not sure of the weight either, but it feel quite light depite being mahogany since the LG body is small. I'd guess it's under 9 pounds.

FYI, the Coliseum is maybe 5 minutes from the shop...

The colors really compliment each other nicely on this one.

The same chocolatey browns that run through the fretboard are highlighted beautifully in the wenge body shim and the black beauties seem to maintain the earthiness of the instrument. Very nice!!

Here's my LG-3005, Cocobolo top with flame maple accent, matching cocobolo headstock, Birdseye maple fingerboard, spanish cedar body, Bartolini pickups and preamp. I favor the neck pickup a bit and get a real full P bass tone with much more clarity and bottom. I've owned so many basses, run of the mill to high end and this one is by far the best bass I've ever played. I would imagine if the pickups weren't slanted I'd get more of a J bass tone but the way I run mine and what I like tone wise, the slanted pickups work great for me. I've never had an easier time hearing a bass on stage than this one. It's very mid-present without being harsh. Just a perfect bass for me. Someday, I'd love to play a non slanted pickup version to hear the difference. The small body feels totally comfortable and balanced. My favorite bass!
