Somebody is owed a back of headstock veneer!! I trust that is one of the next steps in the process...
...actually, the back veneer has to be done as almost the LAST step of shaping, right before the tuner holes are drilled and the neck is taken into the spray booth. It isn't a perfectly flat glue joint, it's curved, and the curve has to be complete before the matching veneer is glued on:
