That's still going to be a beautiful bass even without the wenge shim. I like maple with the KOA (hint hint for a neck reccommendation)

Look at it this way, now two people are going to get outstanding instruments.

If the bass without the shim is so hideous that no one wants it, send it to Georgia. I've got an affinity for "imperfect" things.
