:jawdrop: And, shoot, just which 800 watt combo do you think is more reasonably priced? :eyebrow:

I'm just trying to be honest with my opinion.
Maybe I should have explained my stance alittle better.

If Mr. wattsman wants to stay in the Rumble family, and his ears like the sound of the 500, (I think) the 500 is a better value at $650.00'ish for a 210 and tweeter combo that delivers 350 watts to it's internal drivers than the 800 at $850.00'ish for the same driver complement with only a modest increase of 50 watts to the internal drivers.

Plus, with $850.00 your now in the striking range (and especially by looking at used in the T.B. Classifieds) of Fender's top of the line Bassman series of cabinets. Recently there was a used, but not abused, Bassman 115 Neo in great condition in the classifieds, asking price, $550.00, there were also recently, two Bassman 410 cabinets at great prices. Fender Rumble heads pop-up from time to time at great prices also.

True, I'm not talking combos anymore, but I am talking making the dollars go further towards even higher end equipment.

Well, shoot, now I understand what you mean, when comparing the Rumble 800 combo to the Rumble 500 combo. So, you don't feel like the 800 is worth $200 more than the 500? Of course, you're entitled to your opinion. But I believe you're assuming some facts not in evidence, while overlooking some others. The Rumble 500, at 350 watts alone, is 100 watts more than the Rocket Bass RB-210, while costing a little less and weighing a bit less, (since this thread is meant compare them). But, I didn't see where @wattsman indicated that he liked the sound of the R500c or wanted to stay in the Rumble family.

Also, the R800c may only give 50 watts more than the R500c in standalone mode, but with an 8 ohm, or 4 ohm (which the 500 can't do), extension it gives 300 watts more!! Plus, the 800 is not exactly the same speakers, but Neos instead of ceramics, which some people prefer (and are lighter to carry). Also, the R800c has a Pre/Post Switch on it's XLR Output, which is not affected by the Master control, both new features since the R500c. And, finally the R800c has a 1/4 Power Output Switch to reduce it to 100 watts alone or 200 watts in a stack, for more cranked tone in more intimate venues! So, in light of all that extra power and versatility, I don't think $200 is too much more to ask over the R500c. You'll certainly not find a comparable new 800 watt combo under $1,000, or likely much more.

But comparing a value line Rumble, even the ultimate Rumble Stage 800 combo at $1,000, to a premium line Bassman, even the current lowest $1,250 Bassman 800 head only, is definitely apples and oranges!!! Although, yeah, sure, the used market has all kinds of deals, some of them really great for the buyer or the seller, and others ... ... well, ... Hey, even the Rumble 800 combo can be found used. Personally, I think free manufacturers warranties are worth buying new. :D

True, my now 10-year-old R500c has been great and is still more than enough for everything I've ever needed in all that time, even that very loud country cover band when I added the extension cab. Therefore, I haven't bought the newest Rumble 800 combo yet, no matter how much I'd like to. But I guarantee, if something happens to my R500c, I am getting a R800c to replace it. Just my opinion. ;)
