S/D-85: Tasty clippings from Corey's Box

I just had to laugh at his quip about high end gear because I was bringing up amps that are in the same weight/power class (SVT-4pro and the B1500). Which are lighter, cheaper, and are not class-D. Why would I pay 2 grand for an amp from orange that doesnt have tubes? Why would I want a class D amp that weighs that much? Why for fuucks sake would I play an orange amp besides the TB1000?

Because, uh, it's orange?

I wouldn't call Five Guys a high end burger joint. A high end burger joint has burger chefs and has meat options like crab, bison, elk, etc. Five Guys is simply the best fast food burger place. It's greasy as hell and horrible for you, but damn tasty.

Definitely agreed. I was punning. I like that what they call a "burger" is double burger and "small burger" is just a single burger.

I'd like to solicit some feedback from you guys. I wrote these songs recently, to start a solo project. I've posted them all individually before. I'm trying to decide whether they all go together and I should just start fleshing them out into a full band demo (write lyrics and vocals, re-record with live drums and all that) or if I should just take the first and maybe second songs and keep writing around those. The first tune is the last one I wrote and my favorite. I generally feel the first group of songs you write for a band end up being like listening to a compilation, then you fall into a consistent writing style. So I'm not quite sure the last two songs fit in or if I should keep them. Some opinions would be appreciated, I could use an outside perspective since I don't have any band members to offer it.

We just got these fast food places called Cook Out, haven't eaten any of the food there, but the Shakes/Floats are good and dirt cheap. Also love a trip to Steak N Shake when over Richmond to get my Shake on!

+1 way better than the typical fast food burger but not high end.

we have chain called "The Works" here, and that is more high end. some of the toppings are incredible.

High end =|= good all the time. I used to cook in a very "high end" place. You could find me eating cheese fries in the back more often that something off the menu. Why? Because they are good, and I would rather pay for that, than some roasted duck.

Because, uh, it's orange?

That is what makes me laught though. There are orange amps that cover the market this one is trying to get at. What is the point of it?

I predict it will never see production.

Is there even a price for it? I haven't seen one.

People are tossing around $2k. Even if it was half that, why wouldnt you go with the TB1000 for the same amount?

$2,000 is insane. That price has to be based on hype for a new product. I got my AD200 for $1,835 shipped in 2012. I'm definitely an Orange fan boy but I'd never pay full price for their stuff. Gotta be patient for used, or B stock or whatever.

There are at least like 6 different gourmet burger joints in Pittsburgh, including Burgatory which won best burger in the nation in 2013. I love me a good burger.

I'd be sold on that name alone!

French fries deep fried in duck fat the best of both worlds.

I've heard the five guy fries are bagged and the steam from the residual heat wilts the fries? I'm not a fan of a potato unless it's a we'll made crispy fry or similar (hash browns and tots are still fries to me).

I had a crab burger last weekend, was good.

That's got to be a list price, not the actual selling price. If not, good luck to all the suckers who buy it.

Bottom's Up Pizza in Richmond has a Chesapeake Bay Crab Pizza, pulled crab meat, red onions, and seasoning on top of their already kick arse pizza!

You really think Burgatory or BRGR makes a better burger than Wingharts or Five Guys? I've tried all the exotic meat burgers, the steak burgers, the fat medium-cooked ostrich burgers, with their crazy aoli's and candied bacon and whatnot....

But none of them compare to the pure deliciousness that is a fire-grilled Five Guys cow burger. I load that f**ker up with all the toppings they'll offer, 2 or 3 sauces, and a bag of Cajun fries and just let myself go into a coma.

Wingharts, for those non-Pittsburghers out there, is a pretty awesome local whisky bar that makes the BEST charred-outside bloody-inside tasty cow burger I've ever tasted. They have one called the 'Oly Cah' (*pronounced "Holy Cow") thats covered in chipped chopped ham and beer cheese. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it. You'll spend $30 on a burger, fries and a couple bourbons but its worth it to treat yourself every now and then.

The "high end" gourmet burger places take it a step too far... the presentation is nice and the fancy meats are a cool gimmick, but their burgers just dont have the flavor of the lesser 2 establishments... in my opinion YMMV etc. etc.

That is my thought. Unless it is prices very close to the TB1000 I cant see it taking off.

I had some at Hot Doug's once. They were not good. I find that large batches usually suck because they dont get the oil hot enough.
