Although as a project I'd take it for $150, if I planned to refurb. Looks like all the parts are there.
I need some input, fellas. The MGR that has that SVT 215e got back to me. It's not exactly a slam dunk purchasing decision, so I'm mulling it over a bit. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Here's their narrative description of it:
"I just tested out the 215. It sounds clean and big. Except at high volume and low frequencies the speakers break up a little and "fart out" some. I played a Fender American P Bass V 5 string, and the low B didn't respond great at a very high volume. I may have over pushed the rating on the cab? The cab is pretty beat up cosmetically."
I'll post the pics they sent me in a sec.
Any specific thoughts on the farting out bit? Is it something that could get worse? I don't usually go down to B, usually C at the lowest and even that's uncommon. I'm mostly in E standard or drop D. They have it listed at $379 currently and I asked if they'd take $300 and they said yes. Think it's worth that?
I'd still have a road trip on my hands, too, four hours each way. Anywho, I'm on the fence. Not sure yet if this is a good value and worth the trek. A consideration is that used 215s are hard for me to find locally.
Of course, if I make the trip I could take a pit stop at Five Guys along the way; we don't have 'em around here.

i never used it solo'd out but i could crank my SVT to about 1/2 pm and it never farted out with my 810 paired. he might just be overloading the hell out of it haha.
Yeah, 15s shouldn't be farting out on a low B. You could get it and replace the drivers, but by then you'd be spending a lot of cash that could be used to just get a cab that doesn't fart. It's a bummer, because that's a really nice cab.

I love being told that I, "Must not be into high end gear..." because I dont think that new orange OB1-K is worth two turds in a bucket.

Thanks for the input guys. I was leaning toward passing but the input is definitely helpful. I'm not interested in a refurb project, just looking for something that'll sound good for a good value and won't crap out on me. Also, with that drive time, I may as well just expand my search to the Chicagoland area where I'll have more opportunity to find a 215. Of course, the real bummer for me is no Five Guys.
Oh well, the hunt continues...
Well Orange stuff is way overpriced so it must be high-end, right? I think that's it works.
I think high end is a pretty meaningless adjective. I like my AD200 but I'd never have wanted to pay full retail price on it.

Orange pricing is ridiculous, I work for a dealer and could get the stuff at cost or less and it's still WAY too expensive.
So I'm thinking of looking for people for a second band project - I have a rough idea of a sound in my head - this could be either a two-piece drum and bass thing or a trio.
I'm thinking a heavy influence from 90's noise rock, combined with the driving "robot-rock" punkish leanings of early QOTSA and Desert Sessions stuff, but with room to stretch out and jam, lots of dynamics (think quiet-loud-quiet-loud 90's grunge style), with effects on everything. Ideally I could find a singer that could sing and scream well and wouldn't mind being drenched in effects.
I think it could work.

I just had to laugh at his quip about high end gear because I was bringing up amps that are in the same weight/power class (SVT-4pro and the B1500). Which are lighter, cheaper, and are not class-D. Why would I pay 2 grand for an amp from orange that doesnt have tubes? Why would I want a class D amp that weighs that much? Why for fuucks sake would I play an orange amp besides the TB1000?
I wouldn't call Five Guys a high end burger joint. A high end burger joint has burger chefs and has meat options like crab, bison, elk, etc. Five Guys is simply the best fast food burger place. It's greasy as hell and horrible for you, but damn tasty.
