Ashly makes very good gear and it's reasonably priced. Is that a rackmount piece? Which one?

So I gave it a spin in the rack after my IOD.
Definitely not an uncolored compressor.
Great for my purposes, adding sustain and punch.
It also seems to make my treble sound MUCH less brittle and glassy. For lack of a better term it kinda makes every thing up top (like 4k and up) sound FM radio quality. Which is right up my alley.
Needs more time at volume but I think it's a keeper.

Got to see Pontiak tonight, man they groove hard and heavy. The drummers kick kept moving on him so I ended up hold it in place by leaning on a guitar case to put pressure on it because there was no brick in sight. That dude pounds hard, never had to work that hard for a show I wasnt playing before, totally worth and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I really need to sort out another setup for fuzzed-out bass. Love my VT Bass "clean" and with the Joyo UD, but the settings I use tend to make fuzz sound a bit thin and overly-compressed.

Hey that's my band! Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoy it. I've never really thought of us as Math-anything, most of the grooves are in 4/4 or 3/4. There are some really small polyrhythms we've worked on, most noticable is 5/4 against 4/4 on some new tracks, but throw whatever label you want on it, I don't really mind. We usually advertise ourselves in a prog rock label, though Travis (our guitarist) named it "wizard rock" haha. Which is fair. The guy is a wizard at riffs.

We all are fairly solid players, but we'd rather focus on "unique" (whatever that means) ways of writing rather than shredding and such. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GROOVE MAN. THE GROOVE. Call it whatever you want, and thanks for the promotion as well! Some good genres to check out are your basic progressive rock (there's a lot of King Crimson and the Mars Volta in it) and maybe a bit of post-metal (we all love Russian Circles and are going to their show in Boise next month too).

Yeah exactly I like groove in music especially trance inducing grooves. I really suck at genres and just trying to find more music so I apologize about the math thing I should of said prog or experimental or something, or how about heavy rock that grooves! Really dig you guys and glad I stumbled on to your music, Props my man!!!

Man that Jamman Express Xt is sweet, super simple like a Ditto. I think I prefer the Jamman as it is a little easier to start the loop like you can start record and then start playing without looping the pause between starting it, like auto record or something. And 30 bucks cheaper than the Ditto, wish it had one of those clickless switch like on the Ditto though, but not the end of the world and still prefer the Jamman over the Ditto. Plus the whole jamsync thing too, makes me want to get another and sync a bass rig and a guitar rig up so I can sync them. Hmmm, I wonder if I got set one up to a drum machine.

Too main pain killers last night. The switch is clickless like on the TC Electronics Ditto and other pedals. Didn't want to send out misinformation. Really dig this pedal, very simple and fun to use, really easy to see what mode you are in too where they placed the LEDs.

Ha ha ha Micah and I love bacon, so I consider Stookey and emergency rations kind of pet LOL jk jk. I actually named him after my favorite BBQ place where I grew up. I hate that I had to move him outside but he was not always using his litter box and the cats started using it so it was a mess, and as much as I love animals and keep tons of them, my house comes first. I may eventual build some kind of indoor pen that is easy to clean, but I have him in a big dog kennel with a dog house and lots of blankets and bedding and a few bunny rabbits to cuddle with in case he gets cold but I think he actually likes it outside better anyway. I have to make a video of him eating and sleeping with the bunny rabbits and post it. I hope he squeals all day at the neighbor and his son putting up that privacy fence LOL, give that Ned Flanders wannabe hell Stookey! I love being the low middle class guy on an upper middle class street! How you like your coastal weekend cottage now that you got rescue dogs and a squealing pot belly pig next door bitchez!!! And it is all legal because we are considered rural in the zoning ordinance, a couple blocks away another guy has goats, yeah baby!!!

Very interesting. I hadn't heard of anyone's experience using one of those in a bass rig. Colored, but it works well for you, good to know. Thanks for the report, I'm always interested in hearing about stuff like this.

It requires a line-level input so I'm running it after my SWR IOD.
IMO, for bass, compressors go first before any other gain stages so this is weird for me.
Only spent like 10 minutes so this is a rough generalization, would need a lot more time to pull any subtleties out.
Next time I'll put my ART tube mp first then compressor then SWR just for shiits and giggles. I'm quite certain it will overdrive the SWR but since when is OD bad?

Gig tonight in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania. Been trying to book some shows 1+ hours out of the city to expand our "local" fan base but once you leave the city limits most people just listen to nu metal or active rock. They never really know how to react to us lol.

in other gear news, my guitarist's new head is a Laney AOR pro tube 100w with a matamp 412 and soon to be a laney 412 after reloading the cab to be 8 ohm. This means my new bass rig is going to be a 200w Holden (4x KT88s) into a Marshall 8x10 and a 100w Holden (2x KT88s) into the Sunn 215. We're gonna be so deaf.

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm so happy with the results even before I get it back. I loved it before i sent it out, and its exponentially gotten better. I'll have around $300 into it in total: $40 for the head, $80 for the OG foot switch, $200 restore bill. Which for the granddaddy of SS Peavey, I think is completely reasonable. This thing is a piece of history, absolutely priceless to me.

Damn, rad show last night. Venue was tiny but packed and the PA was really good. Our cut of the door was $150 which surprised the **** out of me. Perfect timing as we're trekking out to Baltimore next month.
