It is a great song. Incredibly sad though especially considering its one of the last things he ever wrote.

Yes, it's mushy, corny, and dripping with old-fashioned sentiment. I can play this on classical guitar, but when I try to sing this song, I can't make it all the way through without breaking down. I don't see how she can perform this song.

I'd have to add "Brick" by Ben Folds Five. an extremely depressing song when you look into it, but it is absolutely beautiful to listen to
Eek I know way too many such tunes...
One that comes to mind is Morrissey's "The Edges are No Longer Parallel" which seems to me to very vividly paint the picture of someone with bipolar disorder who suddenly experiences a bottomless morbid depressive episode; the lyrics are very simple but to-the-point (i.e. incredibly poetically efficient) and the music is suspenseful and brooding until the emotional bottom drops out and then it gets intense, and the end of coda is a rollercoaster of legato tremolo picking on the bass that dives off into oblivion... But it's all very catchy and accessible!

I have to say I nearly lose it every time I hear "Moment of Surrender" by U2. Such a great song, and such a song of pure letting go. It's very powerful and emotional.
