Liked Wagner's music. Like most born in post-WWII Germany Kowald was very sensitive to things that both Fascist and German.
Braxton's reply was that the history of great music was not the history of nice guys.
I am not saying Ken Smith is as important as Mingus or Wagner but the world of music would be less rich without those two, just like it is talkbass' loss that we don't have Ken Smith.
I am someone who does believe in musical hiearchy.
I think Ken Smith or anyone else with his knowledge and experience should get more room and different treatment than a snot nosed kid.

Yep, and you nut-cases accounted for 80% of the posts-- but 98% of what made it silly. Nice to know we have someone keeping the stats and being dead serious. :)

I object! I was at least 78% sillier than anyone else!
I was even sillier than Ken Smith dreamt of being, and I threatened to leave... but noone seemed to care, so I stayed. Well, the moderators were nice to me when I said sorry for being so silly.
I like those moderators.
I'd probably like Ken Smith too, from what I've heard about him. I can handle fiesty. I guess if he #4@^ed with me I'd tell him to #4@^ off and then I'd move on.

Maybe Ken needs a chocolate?
I'm a nutcake, too! Maybe Ken Smith is like me, he is either medically hypo-glossimic or hyper-glossimic, which can be fixed with a small bit of candy! This "pre-diabetic" condition is quite common, and can cause one to be unhappy, angry, and to lash out, often with good cause. Ken, take a chocolate candy, (dark works best because it's an anti-oxident), and see if your whole mood doesn't improve instantly! Otherwise you can still go back to being a complete idiot like me. Misery loves company. Another worse situation is manic depression: (depression's obverse side is anger). Did you know half the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra uses PROZAK to control their depression/anger? It's very common among brilliant people. Baltimore even has a psychiatrist on staff, I believe. She wrote a book about it for sale on amazon.com. Half of Washington, DC is said to be on PROZAK. These SSRI drugs are not well tested, so be careful, and don't stop taking them once you start or you'll be sorry! Wean off them over 6 months or more. That goes for the other 5 derivitives as well. They are NOT for everybody. Be careful. Food & Drug is just now starting to question these ill tested "miracle" drugs.

I've seen a lot of semantics used to cover the extreme dislike (i.e. hate) of Ken Smith and anyone like him. For those of us who call ourselves friends of Ken, this does not seem at all like the friendly place it was when PW and I joined 5 years ago. Political correctness now appears to be the rule.

I don't know what my friend Paul Warburton will choose to do, but I choose to stick around now simply because at the present time there isn't a better place to go. If and when I find a better place (from my perspective) I will probably will leave TalkBass myself. It just isn't fun any more.
