SansAmp RBI vs RPM

hmm, it may not be possible then with the way the GK's effects loop is set up. the RPM is worthy of it's own power amp if you decide to go that route. i've run my Rick stereo BTW and it is a very cool setup.

JR

Here is how I run my RBI and 1001:

RBI effected out to GK FX Send
RBI uneffected out to GK input (preamp)

I plug into the RBI.

The level control on the RBI and the input volume on the GK are independant of each other. You can use them to blend how much GK preamp you add to your sound. To be honest I have not figured out the whole relationship between these 2 level controls plus the blend control on the RBI. But I Love my sound. :)

Do you mean the RBI effected out to the GK FX return? I wouldn't think plugging the output of the RBI into the FX send would do anything, but the rest makes sense.

Cheers!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, Geddy with the win.... dude your setup works nicely... GK preamp and RPM working together... effects sound nice... and i can deactivate the RPM if i ever wanna use something lik the flanger with no grit.

Geddy wins the thread.

hey guys.

i need a little help.

i practiced with my band today, and i was really dissapointed in my sound. my mids seend to be hollow and when i play off the a string its no volume compared to the d(or e, i play drop d)

i play drive full, prescene on sligthy, blend 3/4. bass flat, mids boosted quite abit. treble cut a little.

it goes through a plx1202 mono into my vx410

i figured you guys could help me out.

i want punchy mids, and smooth lows and smooth treble, not too bright.

Try reducing the blend control to 50% or below. Also, remember that presence is boost-only, so maybe you could leave that off entirely, or roll off more treble.

First gig tonight with the RPM and the SVT 610HLF. Spent the last few weeks tweeking and running the RPM and RBI together (thanks to JGR f0r the info!) This combo sounds great with my Spector NS5XL. However, I like the RBI as the primary pre and patch in the RPM running it through the effects return with the 50/50 engaged. Should be a fun night and I know some heads should turn when they hear this rig live. Just hope the bassist is ready!! Thanks again to everyone offering up their experiences with the RPM/RBI. I will pass along a full gig report on the RPM/RBI performance within the next day or so.

Cool. I'll be gigging mine tomorrow. I've been running RBI --> RPM --> power amp, but putting the RPM in the RBI FX loop 50/50 is a good idea; I'll have to try that out eventually.

geddy, does your rig hum? My RPM and GK are humming like crazyyyy lol it's not that bad though

Chronicle - sorry man.....no hum in my rig

JGR - for sure I run the effected RBI signal into the FX Send
Have checked that numerous times. Works for me. In fact if I recall correctly, when I set this rig up last summer plugging into the FX return gave no sound. :hmm:

To the other posters that say they are running a RBI and a RPM....one word......dammit! Why must you cause me more GAS pain!! :)
