Saying System of a down sucks?

What I love about SOAD is how you can listen to all their albums, and listen to them get better musically and lyrically.

System is one of the few bands left, I think, that is honestly pissed off about something, and their music reflects it.

One thing about SOAD that a lot of people don't know, and that I learned a while ago, is that SOAD is Darron's creativity. Sure, Serj, Shavo, and John add a buttload to the music, but Darron is the main creative force.

Labeling them as "Nu Metal" just is not right... No one is doing what they are doing... As much as people don't want to believe it, they are not sell outs. They do what they want to do.

Darron is an amazing composer/arranger. He never wanks on his guitar or does anything mind boggling... But everything he does, he does with feeling.

Mezmerize/Hypnotize, for example...

Those albums could have totally flopped. BYOB is the only tune on the entire set that is truely "radio friendly". And even then, thats because most people who just hear them on the radio are to dumb to realize what the song is about.

Personally, I can't get enough of "Lonely Day" off of Hypnotize. That song honestly connects me to the band for some reason... The solo gets to me... As cliche as it sounds. It is far from flashy, but it as more feeling than any other solo I've heard. The only one that has ever had the same effect on me is the one in "Unforgiven" by Metallica.

Their vocal harmonies are unmatched by anyband I've heard. Then again, I have yet to hear any metal with strong Middle-Eastern influences.

The more I listen to SOAD, the more I enjoy and respect them.

Even if you don't care to know what they are really on about, you can still listen to their tunes and at least deal with it, because its good Rock `n Roll.

When I'm 42 and am talking to my son about the defining bands of my teenage years, I'm probably going to say System of a Down, Black Sabbath, Gwar, Blink182, Green Day, Bad Religion, Parliament, and Sum41.

It truely is a matter of personal opinion... But SOAD is just one of those bands that I feel involved with, and can always go back to for anything from straight up head banging to a good laugh.

Recently(20 mins ago), I made a post somewhere else saying how bad and all that jazz I think system of a down is. I didnt say anything about their fans, I said I dont think they deserve 1/2 the credit and fans that they recieve.

I know it's just my opinion and ussually I dont even care about my own opinion, but this band truly bothers me. Am I wrong for voicing my opinion, especially online?

Also, what do you think of these fools from SOAD? I am growing up in a society where I believe most everyone has been brainwashed by this crap. Most of it is pretty bad/sounds the same/not given much thought, and I just cant appreciate it.

If I think of anything else, I'll add more. I never get more furious about anything than system of a down.
You're awfully worked up about something that affects you not at all. I hear lots of music I don't like on the radio, but I don't decide to just pop up in a forum and make sure everyone knows. There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion, but when it's a matter of taste and all it's going to do is upset you, it might be better to just keep it to yourself. I'm not even sure what it is you don't like about them. I'm not sure what you mean with the "sounds the same" comment. Whether you like them or not, SOAD is pretty unique. And what is it I'm brainwashed by? I'm not mad; I just think you're silly.

Personally, I love SOAD. I think that they're one of the most fun metal bands around -- despite their serious viewpoints -- they're not afraid to play whatever they feel like, and don't worry about not being "heavy enough" or something.

So what I guess I'm trying to say is: relax, and don't listen to or worry about bands you don't like.

SOAD are waaay overated, did you listent o their lyrics?? check this out its from their song sugar:

The kumboosha mushroom people!
sitting around all day!
who will believe you, who will believe you, let your mother pray!

***?!

Plus their bassist sucks, his tone sucks, his playing sucks, noo talent whatsoever. Trust me, I have a short video of the making of toxicity, where the guitarist sits on a chair and the bassist sits on the ground, and the guitarist starts teaching him basslines to the songs, he deosnt even know notes, instead of saying this: A,A#,B. He says five, six, seven. I mean come on, im 13 and I can read the fretboard...
