Saying System of a down sucks?

How can anyone say that tracks like Question!, Radio/Video, Hypnotize etc lack talent? The vocal harmonies, tempo changes, guitar patterns et al are a cut above what people call "Nu Metal". I'm not saying they are the best band of all time, I have only recently started to get into them (didnt like toxitity), but I think the slating is undeserved; I can think of a hundred acts at the moment that dont compare with SOADs musicianship but are more succsessful....

I dug the first album alot. After that, diminishing returns set in with each new album.

I feel Dog Fashion Disco borrowed most of their sound from Mr. Bungle since that subject was brought up.

In closing, if you like it, it is good. I'm sure some people might not enjoy Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, but I know I like them and that is enough for me.

With the exception of maybe 2-3 songs I never liked this band and cannot get into their music. It does not appeal to me. I don't like the vocals, or melodies of their songs. Chop Suey is such a stupid song..its irritating and annoying. Same thing with "BYOB"...can't stand it.

yea, I got a little worked up over this last night. Dunno why, ussually dont. This has always been a band to bother me. I should admit that I did like 1/2 of toxicity though. But after that, theyve gone completely downhill I think. Sorry if anyone else got mad in response or I offended anyone. I ussually dont say anything or rant like this. Actually, never do so yea..........

Havent seen them live so I'll take your advice that theyre good live though. I dont see them as innovative at all though. What is innovative about them? And when people call them musical god's, I am dumbfounded as to how that is possible.

I dunno, I didnt think this would get so big.....I dont like them, we can leave it at that.

Plus their bassist sucks, his tone sucks, his playing sucks, noo talent whatsoever. Trust me, I have a short video of the making of toxicity, where the guitarist sits on a chair and the bassist sits on the ground, and the guitarist starts teaching him basslines to the songs, he deosnt even know notes, instead of saying this: A,A#,B. He says five, six, seven. I mean come on, im 13 and I can read the fretboard...

Now you might be able to kick my ass playing bass, but I'm not going around trashing guys in established rock bands who have been on covers of bass magazines.

Where you heard, or whoever you heard that from, are obviously newb 14 yeaqr old A Perfect Circle lovers who know jack-**** about TOOL, or genre's of music period. Hell, I've met kids that though TOOL was a side project... :rollno:

lol...i like SOAD, i don't love them...I don't think that a mid song tempo change makes them the greatest Nu-metal band ever, but i don't think they are the worst...I like toxicity and then i got the one with byob on it, and i like a few of their songs, i just think a lot of their songs follow the same formula, which is good if you like it...i like it in small doses...

i just now realized i am a fairweather SOAD fan, and added nothing to this thread...

i'll go now :)

I hate how those guys fall into the classifacation of "Nu-Metal"

I think Tool is a very Progressive band.... they don't really tune below dropped D that much, and strike me as what a progressive band should be.....one that conjures up picturesque visions.... like some great battle in medieval times...
