They'd probably have to charge $800 for it, but I bet people would pay it.Roasted neck and fretboard would look so good.

I agree. The lighter one 'pops' but the tonal match with the rosewood will probably be better with the darker one. (Sorry, I took a couple few graphic design classes 25 years ago and finally having some of it be relevant is nice.)Leaning toward the darker purple.

Totally agree. That darker one is justLeaning toward the darker purple.

!!I hate that for you. Mine was in a single box with a grid of cardboard slats holding it in place. I was very fortunate it arrived in perfect condition.View attachment 4204454 badly bent tuner. Did I mention I hate shipping guitars?
have you tried playing it loud? It does work even if I never use it.I'm not familiar with MM style basses as this Sterling short scale is my first one. I did notice the G on this Sterling shorty played much louder than the other strings, but I was able to correct this by lowering the PU a little on the G side. There's also some noticeable hum going on, but I figure it's probably the overly zingy round wound strings it came with and am hoping changing over to nylon coated LaBellas later will eliminate that...
However I'm also seriously wondering if it's normal for that so called 'boost' on the volume knob to do nothing? I mean, I don't hear any difference whatsoever pushing that knob in and then in again? (And again and again...) Granted I do play sort of low in my home, but then even when I do turn the volume up some there's no difference! Shouldn't there be something going on? I mean, why have a boost control anyway if one can't hear any 'boost'??
So is this bass possibly defective, or does the boost perhaps work only on very loud volumes? Should I take it back to my local GC to have their tech check it out? Or should I insist on having it replaced with a new one?
Thanks for any help and suggestions here...

Yeah the switch out is the normal loudness, depressed and it's quieter. Mine has a very noticeable differenceI'm not familiar with MM style basses as this Sterling short scale is my first one. Precision Guitar in Arizona off Reverb is where I got mine. They have multiple color options based on stock so message before you buy. Ask about turn around time too b/c they are not always at the shop.Does anyone make replacement pickguards for this Sterling Short Scale yet?

Why does ebony need to be avoided?I don't think so. The Daphne Blue seems to be the most popular color and while I don't dislike the dropped copper I would not buy anything with ebony. I just don't agree with it ecologically. Not saying anyone else thinks that but I always bang that drum. Ebony needs to be avoided.
